I would say that all depends on his record.  Can he go 8-4?  If so, I say yes.  If not, look elsewhere.

 

I don't any interim coach has had a better post-firing record than the pre-firing record since the mid 90's. Essentially, there is no point firing Gus to "salvage a chance at the playoffs this year".

 

You only fire him to:

1. Send a message.

2. If you think he regime is somehow hurting the core players that will be here in the next few years. Such limiting development, or allowing bad mistakes to become habits that cannot be fixed.

3. He has lost the locker room.

4. He has done something immoral or illegal to embarrass the organization. 

 

 

If the organization really wanted to troll all the UF fans, they could fire Gus and hire Les Miles just for the season. Just because.
