Hopefully "heads up" tackling at the Peewee stage will eventually trickle up?

 

Please. Don't get me started. If there was ever any evidence needed that the NFL will pull whatever cockamamie idea out of their rear ends that actually does more harm than good just to appease the masses, then we can all refer to the farce that is Heads Up Tackling.

I dunno man. I've heard a lot of professional coaches and former players saying you need to look-in your tackle. You can't do that with your head down.

It's not that you do it with your head up, it's that it essentially forces a smaller, lighter player to go chest-to-chest with a bigger player. And that never ends well. If you want to see good tackling technique, Pete Carroll put together a Hawk Tackling / Rugby Tackling video that has top notch, effective tackling technique. It teaches the players to take their head out of the contact, yet still puts them in a position to protect themselves. Wanna know why I think it works so well? Because football coaches came up with it. Not some PR group that is trying to hit a number on a popularity poll. 

 

I agree with you that a player is better of with his head up and seeing what he hits, but there are a lot of better ways to teach this than "Heads Up Tackling".

On another note, am I the only one that would be at least a little disappointed if we don't find a way to somehow spectacularly exploit Prosinski, and majorly disappointed if he somehow made a big play against us?

There are a lot of people who have that exact same beef. And yes, can we please point out Prosinski to Yeldon and tell him to juke until he sees the head drop.
