NFL.com - Fournette campaigns for Jaguars to sign Cam Newton

I don't think it really matters. As far as what Fournette thinks in regards to Cam Newton. At the end of the day. Competition is competition. Minshew still needs that to keep his drive going. Whether he has it or not remains to be seen. If anything it's more of a precaution.

We thought Foles was going to be the guy. Because he pulled it off on a much better football team with better coaching. Newton could come here as a back up and probably struggle with this very same team. We'll see. Just hope Minshew is the guy for now.

Newton, much like Foles, he would probably end up on IR for awhile with this current offensive line any way. And, here's another thing. What does that say about Newton with the fact that Ron Rivera opted to trade for Kyle Allen instead of aiming to sign him up to compete with Haskins instead?

I'll give Fournette credit for believing we are a ways off on being competitive this year. Honesty is fine but come on where is the Flavor Aid statements.
Birth of the Franchise - November 30, 1993
Death of the Franchise - November 29, 2011

Fans deserve better. Thanks for all the good times too many are in the past.

Way to throw your QB under the bus Fournette. "It's not personal but I don't think you can win as much as this other guy and I'd rather play with him." Could Cam play lights out, unseat Minshew at some point, and lead us to some magical playoff run? Sure anything is possible. But seems far more likely a guy who has been a career starter getting relegated to backup would end up sowing more discord than anything else as guys like Fournette would be vouching for him from the start. Far more likely to end in a disaster than the aforementioned magical playoff run. Minshew played well enough to be given a shot as starter. So give him the shot. If he needs competition or motivation then isn't the guy and we'll figure it out pretty fast.

I will never understand the recent negative attention towards Minshew.

The heck with all of them. Minshew should’ve been ROY. Dudes a winner. He carried a team of boys. He fought a group of dangerous raiders and lived to tell the tell. His best friend is a grizzly bear named Greg.

Minshew da man.

I’m vegan, so I respect Cam a bunch. But, Cam all about himself. Minshew is for the people

Minshew is going to be in Jacksonville a lot longer than Fournette more than likely

If someone would give Us a second rounder I would do it in a heartbeat. Obviously that’s never gonna happen though.

My other issue is that if he comes here would he be willing to ride the pine behind Minshew or would he expect the starting job to be handed to him based on his past? That could open up a can of worms this team can ill afford in 2020.

Personality wise? If he was cool to be here as a mentor or above average back-up to Minshew? I think he would be one hell of a fit. By all accounts he's a great locker room guy and fans love him. I know he's had some of those "diva" and "brooding" moments with the media after tough losses in the past. But he's not that guy 24/7.

I watched the Carolina season of All of Nothing and after seeing him in that I don't see him taking a backseat to anyone.

We need to sign, as Deion would say, Cam! Oh Cam!.

Cus not even the Jaguar players believe in Minshew. They want a real QB. A tall one that's big and strong.

CCam puts Minshew to shame from physical stature.  Jags front office stupid to not sign this guy and the players want him here and would play hard for him.

Get rid of Fournette. He's part of the culture problem and comments like these make that obvious. It's not like he's so good that you need to put up with it.

I'd be cool with Cam if he was willing to compete for the starting job and the contract was incentive laden.

It's either go with Dalton or stick with Dobbs for me.

Dave said if one present himself they'll take him. If not, they'll sign on after the draft. That sorta intrigues me.

Fournette does not equal 'the players'.

The same way Jamarcus Russell put Tom Brady to shame?

If great athleticism was all you needed, we could have kept Bortles. I'd settle for a guy who can actually play at a high level. Cam's best days are behind him.
I'm condescending. That means I talk down to you.
