2020 Most improved players

#21

Offense:
Jawaan Taylor- showed ability as a rookie, ready to take next step.
Gardner Minshew- game should continue to slow for him and become more consistent.

Defense:
Josh Allen- expecting a monster year from him into the elite at his position.
Myles Jack- from MLB under-performance to an impactful WLB.

Good choices.

Hopefully Herndon and Harrison greatly improve.

He is also in the last year of his contract.

This is an interesting one, because it's hard to see a path for him to get more snaps.
He split time between DE and DT last year.
I think rotation at 3 tech w/ Bryan is his best option to get playing time this season.
(unless Ngakoue doesn't play)

Hybrid defense is the best way for Smoot to play more snaps IMO.
He can play both DE (4-3) and 3-tech (3-4).

Smoot-Taven-Gunter are probably our best options as 3-tech, with Hamilton and Woods as 1-tech. I just don't know where Abry is going to play  Huh

We all love Allen and have big hopes for him. Going to be an interesting year. He made some really nice plays last year but with more attention and less quality on the D line he may have a tough year.

Calais would get double teamed every snap, Yan usually gets the G helping the T which gives you those chances to make a play. With no Calais and who knows what happens with Yan, i don't want Allen being our only threat as a pass rusher as teams will scheme him out.

You don't actually believe that do you?

In pass rush. Once Dareus went down, Calais was our only legitimate inside threat. Teams schemed around him and because the run D was so awful we didnt get many chances to use pass rush D, his strength, when we had a shot.

Im not saying hes a wrecker that HAS to be double teamed but teams didnt fear our D anymore, teams respected him but the D line struggled as the LB's and DB's kept giving up coverages but he was a fighter on a bad D last year.

I hope im wrong but i think were going to miss Calais more than we realize. Just like Poz.

So, if I were to pick a 2019 game to watch Calais' snaps, which one would you like me to choose?  And do you want to limit this to the snaps Calais played inside, at big end, or both?

Because I'm certain I can rapidly post several gifs from any single game that show your claim to be hogwash.
(nothing personal, I'm just calling you on what I believe is some pretty bad hyperbole here)

Well heres Allen's sacks. My main point was more about Allen and hoping he doesn't have to do everything this year. If you look at his sacks from last year, nearly every one he is matched up one on one. He benefited from the extra attention Yan and Calais got. Im not criticizing him for it and he really stepped up through the year, i want to see him starting at DE and see what he can do.

But if Yan starts playing up and we lose a body or 2 on that line then he becomes our main and maybe only real threat, teams will double team him, theyll run away from him. Im hoping Chaisson can be that guy Allen was last year but our main inside pass rush threar now is Taven.

Watching that just got my blood pumping. Allen looked really good. I just don't understand how we didn't have him on the field more. Hes an absolute game changer.

I'm ready for football, even if we do suck. lol

Bit of an oddball, but I think Fournette will improve by quite a bit. He gotta decent yards and YPC in 2019 and with relative stability at QB and O-line this year I expect him to take advantage as well. Not to mention he's in a contract year.

I know Fournette has been an up and down experience but im not ready to move on from him yet. That playoff game in Pittsburgh, he was great that game and to score 3TD's, over 100yds rushing, on the road, in January, thats everything you want from an RB.

Now we haven't seen that Fournette since. Partly his fault, partly 3 different OC's and another with Gruden. Hard to build an O and those subtle adjustments when your relearning every year.

Is he worth top RB money? No, but hes by no means a weak spot on the roster and he had a pretty solid year on a so-so O last year. If we can be smarter with how we use him, especially in the RZ he could become a real weapon again.
