Absentee is a different process. You request a ballot.

Only 9 states and D.C. will automatically mail a ballot to every registered voter this year, 2 states and D.C. doing so for the first time. Every other state requires a request for an absentee ballot. There have been no significant issues in the 6 states where the ballots are automatically mailed to voters process was already in place due to stringent verification policies. Fraud is rare because it is a felony, and because it requires extensive knowledge of a true registered voter's personal information and signature to pull it off. Just because someone receives a ballot in the mail doesn't mean it's automatically counted when returned. A bigger issue is ballot rejection, about 1% nationally but 5% in some states.

Mail-in voting terrifies Trump because the more people vote, the less likely Republicans win. His objections have nothing to do with possible fraud or untimely results.

I'm in a wait and see mode for the mail-in ballots. My biggest concern is not fraud but provisional ballots. Ballots going to old addresses may not invite widespread fraud, but what about the people those ballots were intended for? They haven't received their ballots so they go through the process of casting a provisional ballot and that in turn creates more delay, more discord and more opportunities for 'suddenly found' ballots. Both sides will attempt to leverage the confusion to their side. It's going to be ugly.

Yep, I agree, they were taking a risk. They were also required to wear masks, temperatures were taken, hand sanitizers were made available, and social distancing was demonstrated and encouraged. As the crowd grew the distancing was hard to maintain. I believe all those on stage were tested. It wasn't perfect, but they at least recognized the risk and encouraged safety.

Contrast this with removing social distancing placards at the Tulsa rally and booing an announcement asking people to wear masks at an airport hangar rally. All that after 4 days of people lying about the pandemic and Trump's response to same.

That's what I was talking about in my original post.  Polls show that a much higher percentage of Biden supporters than Trump supporters plan to mail in their ballots.  Therefore, Trump could very well end election night leading in most states, but when all the ballots are counted, including the absentee ballots that were mailed in, Biden could be the winner.  And chaos ensues with a scenario straight out of a movie.

Depends what your working hours are and what your transportation options are. Also depends how long the lines are.

I work 11 hour days and have never had an issue voting.  The polls are not even open when I leave my house and still have no issue voting.  

Yes, voting is a right but is also a privilege.  Being a little inconvenienced one day a year to have a voice in how your government works is such a small price to pay.  Americans have become so spoiled we no longer realize the honor and privilege we have when we cast our ballot.
