Marrone says he won't fire Wash

#21

To contribute to something on topics...honestly, I like this from Marrone. He knows he's done at some point this year and he's going down with the ship and taking the blame. That's what a good captain does. It's too bad that he's a bad coach cause I like most other things about him.

Caldwell is going to wriggle and writhe and try to throw anything and everything under the bus to keep his job.

Oh that's exactly what I expect honestly

It can't be worse.  But I don't expect much better.  4-12ish next year with a few over-priced free agents.

I am more confident than ever they will both be gone.
This is a results-oriented business.  There are no trophies or titles given for "moral victories" or for "winning the draft".  Our record with DC is 37-86.  6-10 is our 2nd best season in 8 years of Caldwell leadership.  These are the FACTS.

Out of curiosity, what do you base your last statement on? I mean, you act like Caldwell stole your girlfriend or something.

That alone is a fire-able statement. Refusing to change the staff no matter what.

This is the type of statement you make when you have zero worries about job security, and it further shows that we have an owner who puts no priority into winning.

He is pretty much saying production dont matter. Yes, he should be fired for that alone

I’m anxious to know who hired Gruden. If Caldwell had a hand, it feels likely that Marrone could be fired as if Gruden was hired to step in as HC in this sort of situation

Dave and Doug sold Khan on another 5-year rebuilding plan at the end of last season, apparently.

Khan said as much, they've got a free year to retool the roster. The seats are not warming up around here.

Yeah, I said the same thing last week, but I was expecting some competition during this rebuild. The further we go into the season and the worse this team looks, I do find myself wondering if Khan really accepted a rebuild this awful.

But if Marrone has no fear of not firing Wash after these last four weeks, I think the rebuilding plan sold to Khan was longer than I initially anticipated.

I hope Khan dishes up some major dough for some great coaching.

That's just a captain resigned to go down with his ship.  He's proclaiming loyalty to his friend because he knows he can't save his own job anyway.

He at minimum said it was how you finished that matters. I still think they are safe until their contracts are up after next year, but this is terrible. I don't know that I can take another year and a half of Wash.

Can't see that happening.  The 2021 off-season with multiple picks in early rounds and a ton of cap space is not a situation where you would have a GM on a lame duck contract.  Its fired or extended; the latter is absolutely ridiculous to even consider.

So they are under contract. Hire a new GM and Coach. Demote these fools and make them work for the new guys until the contracts expire.

Its the NFL, man.  Coaches get fired with MULTIPLE years left on their deals every year, never mind only one.  They are good as gone. You wouldn't want them in the building in any demoted capacity polluting the new culture.

Khan won't Fire Caldwell, Caldwell Won't fire Marrone, Marrone won't Fire Wash, just a vicious cycle with 0 accountability.

I don't know there are trash cans to empty, floors to be swept and toilets to clean. Hand them a broom and wish them well on their new career. They could always quit....

Khan lack of action demonstrates to me that he is indifferent. Marrone is a good OL coach, he's in over his head, Always has been.
Today's dispaly of ineptitude is inexcusable. Enduring this mediocrity is insulting. To me, to you, and the fans of this team. My lack of interest in this team has reached its rock bottom.
I am free of caring. I have matched Khan's degree of interest.
