I am a fan, not a cheerleader.

It depends on who we get to build around Trevor. We need to protect him, we need to generate some kind of pass rush, we need to stop the run and we cannot give up big plays through the air like we did last season. If we can sure-up these areas, a quick turnaround is possible.

You bring up a great point...Trevor can turn out to be better than Tom Brady, but if we can’t stop a nose bleed then it won’t matter.

We need DEFENSE.

If the front office makes the right moves, this team could very easily make a quick turn-around.  There are many factors that will speed up the process:

1. Salary Cap - Many teams with long rebuilds started off in salary cap hell.  It takes them a couple of years just to get out of their salary cap situation before they could even start the rebuilding process.  Not only do we not have salary cap issues right now, but we have more salary cap room than any other team in the league.
   
2. Draft Picks - Extra draft picks in the first, second, fourth and fifth round should help speed up the process.  That's almost a second draft.
   
3. Franchise Quarterback - The Jaguars have the opportunity to not only take a franchise quarterback, but a so-called generational quarterback.  Sometime there's no franchise quarterback available in the draft or the rebuilding team isn't picking high enough to get him.  That can set back a rebuild.  If Trevor is as advertised, problem solved for the Jaguars.
   
4. First Pick Off Waiver Wire - This should help improve the depth on the team.
   
5. Youth - The Jaguars incredibly began last season with 16 rookies on the opening day roster and a number of other young players in key roles.  You could bring back the same team and they likely improve just because of experience.  
   

Given our salary cap situation, we should be able to get at least 3 new starters in free agency.  I also expect first and second round picks to be starting quality.  If you throw in the very top pick in the third round, that's five draft picks that should be starter quality.  That's 8 positions to potentially upgrade and that assumes they don't find any diamonds in the rough elsewhere.  You don't have to take those 8 spots randomly.  You can upgrade the 8 worst positions on the team.  That's a massive opportunity to improve.

I don't expect great results in 2021 because we'll be relying too much on rookies and youth.  6 or 7 wins is probably realistic.  However, we should be good in 2022.  If the team isn't competing for a playoff spot in 2022, Meyer/Baalke didn't do a good job.

That gives us 5 years, plus a franchise tag year if we can't sign him to a long term extension.   And if we can sign him to a long term extension, usually a team can make that very cap friendly in the first year or two.  So, basically saying, we have plenty of time.  

But I expect a fairly quick turnaround, contending for the division by 2022 at the latest.  We're going to have a lot of young players, and a lot of new players, and I expect some difficulty starting out.

The Dolphins went from 1-15 to 10-6 in the late 2000s. It can be done. Falcons also went from 3-13 to 11-5 the exact same year.

What it really comes down to is 1. Trevor’s initial play 2. The O-Line and 3. How weak our schedule is.

I think it’s possible, just not probable.. I'm just going to assume that TL comes to Jax and his first year is going to be average.. The defense needs to be tightened up for an average QB to have success (at least here). And success, I mean between 5-8 wins..

You're not going to win too many games scoring 21 points if your defense is usually close to giving up anywhere from 30-50..
