I always love coming here for an informed debate.  

I think it is fine for you to like the picks and be happy about the new crop of players.  I also think some of the nay sayers are being a bit dramatic.

Honestly the baby noise stuff just makes you look like a twit though.

But dude....that’s all it’s been ever since pick 25. Just whining and crying. That’s how my brain processes what they’re saying. I’m actually tired of seeing it. 

We’ve never had to endure a 1 win season, but yet we have fans that act like we are a couple players away from a ring. They are ridiculing every single pick and the ball hasn’t even been snapped yet.

Just sick of the crying. We drafted a RB that averaged 7.9 and....never mind bro.

You are actually the person being the most annoying on here.  The only crying on this board is when you make those baby sounds and it makes you look childish.  While I agree with Rufftime that some people on here are being overly dramatic, most of the criticism is informed and the people are making legitimate points.  I want to hear those points, even if I don't always personally agree.  I don't like it when people are criticized for being negative on a selection if that is their honest opinion.

None taken, no one could possibly know everyone in such detail, you gotta do it sometimes. I’d heard his name a few times between all the draft guys I follow on Twitter throughout the whole process. He’s got great size and production. As said before too he had a nice Senior Bowl too

As a fan of the Jaguars, can he line up and sack the QB or stuff the run?? Literally nobody knows. Not even Bill Belicek, Bill Parcells, Urban Meyer, Tim Tebow etc.

So for all you Gators homers...he was a Gator at one time but got charged with a felony. Went the Juco route and had 102 pressures in 2 seasons. Had 12.5 sacks in his first season and 8 in his last.

However they lined him up in all defensive line positions. He’s 6’6” 250

He has excellent vertical speed. Weakness is run defense

sounds like he'll kick to OLB rather than bulk up to play 3-4 DE

I don't have much first hand knowledge of him, but NFL.com had him rated as "good backup who could become a starter".  The Draft Network has a pretty good write-up.  Please note the section that I've highlighted in bold.

He attended JUCO before landing at UAB, where he emerged as one of the top defenders in the AAC in 2019 and 2020. Across 21 games, he racked up 89 tackles, 23.5 tackles for loss, 12.5 sacks, three forced fumbles, and an interception. Smith’s blend of size, length, effort, and athleticism makes him an appealing edge defender at the next level that best fits in a base 3-4 defense that incorporates hybrid fronts. With that said, there is some notable rawness to his game when it comes to having a rush plan, deploying pass rush moves, and processing. The problem is there were a lot of other EDGEs with those same descriptions that have far better traits. I guess we'll see but not taking someone like Kaindoh, Toney, Robinson, etc to develop doesn't sound +EV to me.

He is a 4th rd pick. Anyone picked here is pretty much a gamble otherwise they wouldn't be a 4th rd pick. Everyone you mentioned has major flaws that could prevent them from ever making it in the NFL otherwise they wouldn't be sitting here in the 4th rd.

Hold on a second.

The NFL puts its product out for public consumption.  All of the games are televised.

Hell, their draft is televised.

When they televise their product and put it out for public consumption, fans who consume that product are going to have varying opinions.

Just like any restaurant.

Just like any auto manufacturer.

Just like any movie producer.

I don't think most here are trolling when they offer their criticisms.

I haven't seen a single post on this board that criticized the Jaguars for the Trevor Lawrence pick.  I don't think anyone who posts on this board-save the occasional tack or colt fan, has any real incentive to simply trash the team for everything it does for no reason.  I think the bulk of negative posts are based on good football reasoning and legitimate concern.

Even if I disagree with the reasoning or the conclusions, I can't fault people for offering honest opinions.

The 4th round isn't late, and we traded up to get him so they must have felt extra convicted about him. Like I said we'll see, it's not like I have strong feelings about him except that his traits are quite underwhelming compared to some of his peers that were also available.

Everyone picked from here on has bad traits that can prevent them from ever being successful in the NFL. The guys you mentioned may have better traits, but at the same time may have bigger flaws. Quit trying to over analyze things you don't have a clue about. It doesn't make you look smart or informed.

I was texting my friend who is a UAB fan to ask more about Jordan Smith. He said:

"Jordan Smith is a beast. Really athletic and was one of the stars on what was a really good UAB defense last year. If he gets on an NFL weight program and gets a little bigger/stronger he could be a contributor on defense. Not a bad pick IMO"

What an intelligent person does when they see a stat like that is go to the game tape and see if that time indicates anything in particular, or if it's just a case of a guy who for some reason ran a poor 3 cone drill.  Combine stats are not the be-all/end-all of scouting.  They just lead you back to the game tape for a re-check.

Well the one clip people on twitter were trying to use to tout Smith after we picked him was extremely unimpressive. The tackle (who is stocking shelves somewhere right now, probably) simply completely whiffed on his punch as Smith did one of the weakest dips and least explosive cornering of the edge that I've ever seen result in a sack.
