Quote:Blake Bortles is an ascending young QB. He's not a machine and will have more days like this. To me, he was totally out of sync from the onset, it just wasn't his day. Too bad the D didn't make the trip to San Diego to help him out a bit. Dude is not even a qtr century old. Try carrying the weight of a franchise and city on your back. It's an incredible challenge that he's handling with admirably.
I hope fans are not blaming Blake for a team that was not prepared to play this Sunday, bad coaching is the result of this terrible display of football.

<p style="color:rgb(40,40,40);font-family:helvetica, arial, sans-serif;">Most of you idiots still even talking about Bortles don't know what you're talking about. It's 100% all on the defense.

<p style="color:rgb(40,40,40);font-family:helvetica, arial, sans-serif;">

<p style="color:rgb(40,40,40);font-family:helvetica, arial, sans-serif;">David Garrard could throw 18 TD in a season and the defense is ranked #5 and the Jags are (9-7).

<p style="color:rgb(40,40,40);font-family:helvetica, arial, sans-serif;">

<p style="color:rgb(40,40,40);font-family:helvetica, arial, sans-serif;">Blake Bortles could throw 35 TD in a season and the defense is ranked #31 and the Jags are (5-11)

<p style="color:rgb(40,40,40);font-family:helvetica, arial, sans-serif;">

<p style="color:rgb(40,40,40);font-family:helvetica, arial, sans-serif;">Teddy Bridgewater could throw 14 TD in a season and the defense is ranked #1 and the Vikings are (11-5)

<p style="color:rgb(40,40,40);font-family:helvetica, arial, sans-serif;">

<p style="color:rgb(40,40,40);font-family:helvetica, arial, sans-serif;">So is Teddy better than Blake Bortles? Is tebow better than Peyton because he won a lot?

<p style="color:rgb(40,40,40);font-family:helvetica, arial, sans-serif;">

<p style="color:rgb(40,40,40);font-family:helvetica, arial, sans-serif;">Some of you inept clowns are embarrassing. The Jags are (0-2) because their defense gives up 30 ppg every year. The Vikings are currently (2-0) because their defense gives up 9.5 ppg

<p style="color:rgb(40,40,40);font-family:helvetica, arial, sans-serif;">

<p style="color:rgb(40,40,40);font-family:helvetica, arial, sans-serif;">As for INTs, the two NFL scouts I know think Bortles CAN cut down on the INTs sure, but Bortles is LEADING the NFL in pass attempts. Scouts look at INT % rate, not total # of INTs. Bortles INT % rate is average and lower than Farve and Peyton at this point of his career.

It's not rocket science. Pus Bradley, the defensive "guru" has a #25-32 ranked scoring defense every year. It's impossible for Joe Nameth, Peyton Manning, Tom Brady, or Jesus Christ to make the playoffs with this defense.

No.

We need the coaching staff to not hold him back though. Give him back scrambling abilities and let him spread the ball around to who he wants instead of forcing it to Marquis Lee.

Even though the defense didn't play well. Blake bortles didn't either. He had 3 turnovers. 2 interceptions and 1 fumble. So his turnovers didn't help our defense out

Irrelevant. Bortles is a Top 10 QB over the course of a season. The defense is a bottom 5 defense; it never stops anyone.

Even if you say Bortles doesn't have it. Whatever players/talent this team does have has a 2-4 window. Given that, drafting a QB wouldn't work because more than likely it will take him too long to figure it out. At that point, you would have to try to pry away someone from another team (like D. Brees, M. Ryan,, M. Stafford, etc.).

However, I doubt any of them would be available and they wouldn't be cheap if they were.

Yes, we need a new QB.

Chad Henne isn't getting it done as backup.

I was wrong about Trent Baalke.

Its way too early, but a lot of people thought BB was at a level that he hasn't reached.  In college he had a bunch of comeback wins, was this because he got better as the game went on or he played badly early.  In his tenure at Jax, BB is 0-17 when he throws for 300 yards, and has only thrown 3 td's in the first quarter.  Its cause for concern, but way too early to cut bait.

Bortles is fine, one of our best players, how is he supposed to succeed and get into rythm when its 3rd and 15 every time he throws or throwing stupid screens every other play, or getting stuffed every time we run. He was our leading passer and runner. Hes the best weve had in a while. If you can get him in any kind of roll he is one of the better qbs in the league. How many sacks did he avoid and make into positive plays yesterday cmon now.

Possibly. If he plays like yesterday. Sick of his dumb [BLEEP].

No. Bortles isn't Bree's or Rogers but he still could be a top 10 QB. He's been putting up good numbers with zero run game. Its easy for a defense to get INTS when they know we're always going to pass.

Not time to bail on Bortles yet but he has to start playing better/more consistent. Yesterday was arguably Blake's worst game he has played. The turnovers must stop. They are game killers.

^This is where you lose most people that may agree with you.

Bortles' turnovers and terrible play yesterday were "irrelevant".

Mmmmkay.

Bortles and the offense were pathetic yesterday for 3 qtrs. They turned the ball over in their own territory, giving the Chargers a short field.

The offense could've Confusedhortened" the game and helped out by putting together some nice drives and maybe some, you know, points. But,,,, they didn't. They couldn't even convert a 3rd down until the end of the 3rd qtr. How many 3 and outs did they keep having? Uuhh, alot..

This one wasn't all on the defense man. The offense was pitiful too. They deserve alot of blame also.

lol cut bait? The guy threw for MORE TDs than INTs in EVERY quarter last season. He is the future.

Don't know what fact you're missing. Bortles was a top 10 QB in the league last year and he will be top 10 again this year. Wake me up when we have a top 10 head coach, top ten o line, ten ten running game and top ten defense.

Blake still has lots of upside and he's got a chance to get it clicking again.  He'll never be Tom Brady, but he could be a very good QB with a few adjustments.

The fact that I'm missing is that Bortles' turnovers and terrible play yesterday (the whole offense included) was "irrelevant" and didn't have any affect on the 35-0 drubbing that was going on until the start of the 4th qtr.

Irrelevant, I guess.

Yeah. Blake turned it over three times by himself, and threw some very inaccurate passes, telegraphed several others, miss-timed a few more and generally took too long to get rid of the ball.

He get's a big heaping plateful of blame today in my book for that loss in SD.

We can be a successful team with Blake, but I don't think we can win a Super Bowl with someone as erratic as him. His flaws aren't going to magically get corrected, he can improve them a little bit but he is what he is at this point.
