I'm envisioning Arrested Development. "No touching!!!"

I doubt they were actually hitting/tackling, it was more likely just normal bump and run stuff, as well as body contact when going up into the air for the football etc. You know, normal football things but the NFL is getting soft because they claim to care about their player's safety.

Personally, I want my DBs to be hands on and physical, so this is a good thing imo. They've been saying that they want this Defense to be an aggressive attacking Defense. We might finally get it.

Oh, stop with this [BLEEP].  29 other teams teams can follow the rules, and the other two who were fined can follow them better than we can.  The CBA is in place to protect the player's interests, and the new regime has already violated it just like the old one did.

You don't get to just break the rules because it makes you all hot and bothered when players get physical

Who cares.

The fact attendance stayed close to 100% throughout workouts says to me the players didn’t have a huge issue with it so to me who cares about a couple of fines, had attendance dropped significantly then it would have been an issue,

Would be interesting to know if Meyer, Cullen, etc... were instructing the CBs and WRs to get physical or if by the nature of the players' competitiveness they started to push off each other a little bit.  I think the latter is just a much a possibility (if not moreso) as the former.

Perhaps the thing to do during OTAs as a coach is never allow the players to be in a scenario where they could violate their own collective bargaining rules.  If they aren't the ones getting fined why would they care to break them.  After all many of these guys have a roster spot they need to earn.  Can't afford to practice soft if others arent.

I don't think incidental contact between DBs and WRs would be enough for the players to complain to their union rep.

Let's not forget the Jags and Urban got double the fine as the other teams that were penalized. I'd say the coach was telling players to do things he wasn't supposed to and it was egregious enough to double the fine on him.

I wonder if these rulings can be challenged or overturned. Is there video evidence to back up the NFLPA's claim? Or does the league simply take their word for it?

I ask because after the reputation TC left us with the NFLPA, it's fair to ask if they have an ax to grind with the Jags.

People are making too much of this. The league hands out fines like candy on Halloween. Meyer isn't one to be shy about approaching the line and occasionally stepping over it but it's not like he's hiring spies to film opponent's practices.

They just won't get out of their own way. I bet they didn't say anything about it at the practice either.

Jaguars had an NFLPA rep at the June 1st practice if you’re wondering who the “snitch” was.
— Dilla (@E_Dilla) July 1, 2021

I can only guess he was there to verify a report by someone of the violations. It could have been a player, but most likely someone else at the practice, maybe a traveling scribe from another team. Can you say Scalp hunting?

Yea they care about the player's interests so much that they're adding more games during the season lol..

As I said in my first post, it's not a big deal at the end of the day. Missing 2 days in the first week of OTAs is nothing much.

I like the competitiveness though and there's far worse things they could have did wrong than letting the players bump shoulders a time or two.

It's not just a concession to the players. Once it becomes the rule, it's a competitive issue. A cheating advantage issue.
