The very interesting part (lawyers, help here) would be whether any statements, testimony or findings in this matter would be admissible in the team's fight over Meyer's own for-cause firing.

I agree with you that it will probably settle, but I'm also curious if the team and he settles, does that prevent him from speaking to this incident in the Meyer dispute? Usually there's an NDA with a settlement, or I could see Meyer's snakes accusing the team of offering Lambo a quick resolution and handsome check in exchange for supporting their much more lucrative suit with Meyer.

It's an odd timing, but I don't know if there is a limited window for filing, or if he waited until teams essentially set their 90-man rosters and realiized he was going to remain unaffiliated before filing.

Used to like this guy, now I'm not so sure. Seems more like he's upset that his time as an NFL kicker is up. I seriously wonder what atrocities could have taken place that would command this type of action. Where there's smoke I guess..

When you dismissal involves a loss with two commas in the number, you are gonna want to do everything in your power to recoup that loss. I'll agree that he probably waited to see if any other team would bring him on for preseason tryout before filing, but I can't harbor ill will based on the suit alone.

The challenge for him, if this is not settled, is proving that the dismissal was retaliatory. The team can certainly argue that the dismissal was performance-based, as he was very inaccurate.

The team could have put him on IR just as easily, but how many teams do that if the only problem with a kicker is a case of the yips?

He also got hurt in 2020, so he's got an uphill battle proving that he was still capable in his role at the time he was dismissed.

That's why this is such a compelling story. If he were drilling kicks from all over the field and they let him go over this, it's a slam dunk of a suit.

Yes it would help show cause if the Jags didn't know anything about it. They already knew per his agent. They did nothing.

Khan or a fall guy goes down and the Jags are punished if this reaches trial. There is no defense since it was reported. If they fight it, they have to open their records and show they covered up for him.

You can't claim cause when you ignored or found nothing wrong with the previous actions.

Its all about $$$. As a player Lambo was outstanding for JAX. Then he was hurt and never returned to form. There's always another guy, usually cheaper, trying to get your job. The circle of life continues.

I just think it’s far more likely it was a hard tap or thump like “hey [BLEEP] I’m talking to you”than an actual attempt at a kick to cause pain or injury.  If that is in fact the case, then in my eyes running to the media to tell this story does more damage to Lambo than to Meyer for me.  Lambo had several better alternatives for handling this.

It may be a petty lawsuit, but given the debacle that was the urban-error, I'm not surprised at any fallout.

I'd wager the environment under Meyer was a difficult one for a player returning from injury compared to others around the league. He seemed to have a negative impact on nearly everything around him.

Getting an injured player who has won games for your team back to 100% to determine his viability should be a priority

He was money prior to his injury in 2020.  Urban had nothing to do with that nor did Urban have anything thing to do with the fact that he went 0-3 with the Steelers in 2021 before being waived.

Anyone judging Lambo for this choice has no idea what went on. You may have read a few articles about the situation, but you weren't there.
It very well could be a money grab, but that doesn't make it right for a coach to step out of line. I personally have no respect for Meyer after he joined our already dumpster fire of a team and did nothing but pour gasoline on it.

Urban's lost the benefit of doubt.

Easy win for Lambo - it's not even a discussion. He will just win. Civil cases are garbage - basically if you think there's a 51% chance it happened, you have to side with the plaintiff.

Does it look bad on the team? Sure. But so is the fact that we hired Meyer. People already don't want to come here and play as it is. Maybe a situation like this will get management in general to fix the system.

Coughlins mess wasn't that long ago, then to have Meyers mess.... apparently Khan and company need to go back to the drawing board on deciding who is and isn't a good fit for our coaching/management positions.

Hopefully Pederson ends up being the fix and brings this team back to a competitive position.

Not really as this isn't criminal, unless he is now pushing for battery charges. If he can show he filed a misconduct report on his boss and his boss then fires him, it's really hard to say we were already looking for a replacement so it doesn't matter if he kicked me and then got rid of me.
