NFL.com 6 round mock draft. Who the Jags took and who would you take?

Quote:He's not even old. He's 27 lol My bad... I totally thought when he signed that he was this old guy on his last tank, but Omameh has only been starting for three seasons.

Quote:WE'RE NOT TAKING CAM ROUND ONE! He's easily the best OT in the draft and considering we need two bookends it's hard to argue that it's not a plausible scenario.

Quote:He's easily the best OT in the draft and considering we need two bookends it's hard to argue that it's not a plausible scenario. I have to think you're talking about a trade down situation, but even then Cam's value is in the 20s, and I feel like he might actually be there at #35. There's about a 33 percent chance he's sitting there in round two. ...and no he's not the best OT in this draft. He's just the biggest. Bolles is an athletic freak with a far higher ceiling even though Cam may be more ready to start as a rookie. Ramczyk is the best OT in this draft by about a half mile. I don't even think Cam plays LT in the NFL.

If we picked the first OT and it wasn't Ramcyzk I'd be kinda upset. He's the best one.
Just did this mock and thought things fell pretty nice for the Jags

Quote:Carolina trade back Wow....Why do the Jags need WR with the #2 pick? Isn't the WR's the Jags have good enough for you? There are so many needs for this team to take a WR w/ the second pick. IMO. Cam with the 8th pick is pretty high for him and to me is a reach. Also I don't think Pocic makes it to the 4th round. With your trade scenario: #8 - Howard or McCaffrey 2nd- Feeney - G 2nd- Peppers - S 3rd- A. Garcia - T 4th- N. Peterman - QB
LOVE THEM JAGUARS!
Using the Fanspeak mock draft thing. Not a fan of Fournette. Really would like to trade down, but doesn't look like it will happen.
4: R1P4 - EDGE Derek Barnett (Tennessee) 35: R2P3 - OT Ryan Ramczyk (Wisconsin) 68: R3P4 - TE Adam Shaheen (Ashland) 110: R4P3 - C Ethan Pocic (LSU) 148: R5P4 - CB Rasul Douglas (West Virginia) 187: R6P3 - S Jadar Johnson (Clemson) 222: R7P4 - RB Tarik Cohen (North Carolina A&T) 240: R7P22 - G Jake Eldrenkamp (Washington) We show less advertisements to registered users. Do you really see Peppers falling to the middle of round two? Also, we'd have to get Peterman at #68 in round three if we're lucky enough that he's still there.

That's as crazy as Lattimore falling to #35 which I had in a Fanspeak mock. Douglas in round five and Cohen in round seven would be awesome picks. Barnett tho? Seriously?

Quote:I'd die if Ramczyk fell to #35. That's as crazy as Lattimore falling to #35 which I had in a Fanspeak mock. That is why I would want to trade down. We need an edge guy with bend. He might be the best in the draft after Garrett at that particular skill. He reminds me aof a better version of Yannick. Thomas, Allen, are very good players, but they seemed to have been schemed or overpowered weaker opponents into most of their big penetration/sack plays. That is harder to do in NFL. I wouldn't be mad at those picks, but I would rather overdraft the position we really need and haven't been able to sign in free agency for 2-3 years. Fournette tries to be a Blount, Bettis, Lynch type style to run through defenders instead of eluding them. It is exciting when it works, but few can succeed with it in the NFL. That style of running is also dependent on good blocking and preventing penetration before he gets going. Jags are not good at that. Most of his dynamic/big play runs last year were also off the edge (Off tackle or on a toss) which also requires good blocking. It all just seems like too much risk for a team that is a poor scheme fit and has too many holes right now. He and Cook being touted also feels like everything trying to recapture what Zeke did last year. Sure it could happen again quickly, but it happens so rarely that I'm skeptical.
Still, even if you don't take Fournette you want to get value at the spot. Barnett is a top 20 guy, but not a top 10 guy.
At #4 I'd much rather have Solomon Thomas or Jonathan Allen on the DL, and short of that we could get one of the two elite Ss.

If we are using that argument, the pick has to be Jamal Adams. Yes, we've just signed Barry Church to play SS, but Adams is going to be better in the long run. He can rotate with Church to start with and then, when he's ready, we bench Church.
Quote:If we are using that argument, the pick has to be Jamal Adams. In a perfect world I would have preferred signing a guard in FA and not Church and then using the 4th on Adams. Adams and Ramsey in the same secondary would be scary.
Quote:If we are using that argument, the pick has to be Jamal Adams. Exactly the point you don't pass on the elite player because he would be rotational to start... I just think Barnett as a DE will have a bigger impact than Adams as a SS. Quote:Exactly the point you don't pass on the elite player because he would be rotational to start... That is my view on Barnett. Plus with how college and NFL game has become more pass happy, I feel above average SS and FS will be easier to find. In the long run it is harder to get the edge rusher, and if he pans out that position will be more valuable. The other issue with Drafting the "elite SS" or "elite DT" even though we have veterans is that you could easily end up with the same situation that happened with Poz and Myles Jack instead of the Odrick being washed up situation. Then everyone would be screaming about how we wasted a 1st round pick, etc. Not saying you don't pick the position because of veterans, but you can easily have major holes and "wasted talent" on the bench. which is a luxury the Jags don't have. Are the Jags going to receive a Rd 7 (Pick 240) selection from the Dolphins for Julius Thomas?
I have seen on multiple sites, including NFL.com that the Dolphins have retained this pick. Anybody know anything about this? Quote:Are the Jags going to receive a Rd 7 (Pick 240) selection from the Dolphins for Julius Thomas? Jags have Dolphins 2017 7th round pick. Dolphins have Jags 2018 7th round pick.
Round:
1. RB L. Fournette 2 CB G. Conley 3 TE A. Shaheen 4. C E. Pocic (Linder to LG) 5. WR C. Hansen 6. OT A. Bisnowaty No way Conley lasts to #35. Realistically, I think OG D. Dawkins will be there in the 2nd, and I would take him to pair with Fournette to improve the run game immensely. Then take CB R. Douglas in the 4th instead of OL. |
