Maybe.  If they lose to Dallas and we beat Houston,  then I think we clinch. I would love to go into Week 18 with nothing to worry about.

Nah. He's right.

Titans could lose their next 2 and beat the Jags in week 18 and they are through because of their division record.

yes that is correct. as we would have same record and the division record for us to win south wouldn't matter.

That is correct.  I expect the Titans to find an excuse to play backups against the Texans and Cowboys if we beat the Jets on Thursday…probably having a significant amount of minor injuries creep up immediately after we win.

If we lose, however, they’ll put significant effort in against the Texans and Cowboys (who are already in and may not have much reason to play starters either since they would be locked in to the 6th or 7th seed regardless of the outcome of their last two regular season games.  This is a far better scenario for the Titans instead of having everything ride on week 18 in Jax.

other than losing out,
this is the outcome I fear the most

but i do think that regardless of the outcome, that game will propel Trevor and Pederson into new heights

lose and they have a chip on their shoulder for 2023
Win and they have unlimited confidence going into the playoffs '96 style

Please please please lets not lose to the Tacks at home and be knocked out of the playoffs again. I'm still recovering from 1999-2000.

Malik Willis is a heckuva atj;ete. but is not yet a heckuva passer.

If the tacks start Wllis, will they be able to beat the Texans, who have been playing very well of late, and look like they have not quit despite being the worst team in the league record wise?

How long do they start him?

If it's simply a manner of Tannbehill's ankle, suppose Yannehill comes back the next week, will that be enough to beat Dallas the following week?

Of course, I'd love the idea that they were raising the white flag on the season!!!!

He was the starter when they beat the texans earlier this season.

I don't see why he couldn't beat them again.

Tacks fans are mixed about this. Some say the division title is still well in hand.

I don't see why he couldn't beat them again.

He added 56 yards passing, the Tacks are not playing well and have lost 4 straight, meanwhile the Texans have played hard the last couple of weeks.

While in theory he could do the same thing, somehow I don't see the tacks with another 314 yards rushing.

I think their chances of winning are diminished so some degree.

Good god, could you imagine that? Payton and Pederson dueling each other as offensive play callers?

Does anyone who live in Indy actually like living in Indy?  I can't remember who the Texans coach is off the top of my head, but I could see ownership canning just about anyone to hire Payton.  And Payton feels a lot more Texas than Indiana to me and I think those guys have pretty much locked up the first pick.

Of course, biggest bag of money usually wins regardless.

Talking heads say Payton is circling around the Chargers job.  I'd much rather see that.  Let him duke it out with Ried.

I am hearing the same thing, and that makes a ton of sense for him.

Peyton....go West young man!

A guy with Payton’s cachet isn’t going somewhere that doesn’t have the QB position figured out already. I don’t see any interest on his part in the tinhorns or clots. The tinhorns could potentially come in to play if no other team that has a QB also has a coaching vacancy and they give him a guaranteed high dollar long term deal. I don’t see him being interested in dealing with the growing pains of a rookie QB. I think there would be a high degree of mutual interest between he and the chargers if that job opens up though.

Lovie Smith, and yea I agree.  They will bulldoze the way clear to bring in Payton.

While theoretically possible, somehow I doubt it.

If he were, I don't think there was any way they would have limited him to maybe 5 passes against the Chiefs.

As for them firing/losing Vrabel, the one coach out there that I can readily identify that might make that a mistake would be Sean Payton.  Nuy since the Tacks don't appear to have a QB or have ready access to a QB prospect in this draft, I don't think there's any way Payton come's to Tennessee as their next coach.

Let them implode.  I just want the Jaguars to push them over the edge in week 18, and pick through the carcass in the years to come.

Lord, I hope not.  I want the Tacks to wallow in miserable obscurity for at least a decade.  I hope they go to the college route for a new coach, say, Ryan Day. They are due for a decade of misery.  Bonus would be hearing rumblings in the press about the London Titans.

Hmmm, London Titans. That has a nice ring to it.

When was the last time we were legitimately presumed to have the edge (much less a big edge) at QB over three straight opponents?

If the Titans get rid of Vrabel, I think they're stupid. Dude is a solid coach. But their owner is showing signs of impulsiveness. And that's to our advantage. If things go like we think they're going to, Jags are poised to be the dominant team in the division for a few years. The Colts will be our main competitor.

That's going to be true going forward barring some catastrophic injury.  Trevor's the real deal.  I really believe he is going to be a top 5 qb in the league for the next several years.

100% agree.

The old guard is moving out (Brady, Rodgers, Stafford) and the new guard is in (Mahomes, Allen, Burrow, Lawrence).
