Gotta disagree about 2018.  We looked great through the Pats game.  Both starting tackles got hurt, I’m pretty sure in that game.  Then Bortles was running for his life for most of the rest of the year as we were playing street free agents on the line by the end of the year.  I actually think 2018 destroyed Bortles (not that he was ever anymore than average).  His confidence was shot and he was never even adequate after that.

Cam Robinson was lost for the season in the game 3 loss vs the Tacks.  We beat the Jets handily the next week, but then got destroyed by the Chiefs.  Bortles threw 4 picks in that game, and Fornette was lost for 4 games.  That was the beginning of the end for Bortles.

Feel like some people forget that the 2017 offense was ran through Fournette, not Bortles. That Defense and run game got us in. Bortles did a nice job of playing game manager tho.

2017 was a fluke. Our defense feasted on lack luster QBs. We barely won 10 games that year and we spoiled a few play off teams.

Still managed to get swept by the tacks that year and we beat up on a rookie Watson in week one and Yates in the 2nd contest against the tinhorns. The clots also sucked that year.

We had Nathan [BLEEP] Peterman in a home play off game as an opposing QB. He was garbage.

The only game that really, honest to god impressed me and surprised me that year was the play off win against the Steelers. That game showed me that our defense was clearly not perfect but it also showed me that our offense could figure out a way to dig us out of a hole.

That game pretty much earned Bortles an extension.

LOL. Peterman, like J Peterman on Seinfeld. He was 1-3 that game; Taylor was the primary QB that game, if I'm recalling correctly. He was bad too.

Its all more simple then people are saying.  It will all be a matter on the players health.  Key players on team stay healthy another playoff run is possbille team has the pentential.  injury to any key players for jags we are in trouble. 

I am not expecting a super bowl team this year, i do expect jags to get better as season goes on.  I am hopeing to acctuttly see a back to back winning season for Jacksonville for a change.  

we will see.   it will  all b a matter of how healthy team stays. Health stays good, great shot at another playoff run.

Prediction made mostly because he thinks we will go 6-0 in the weak AFCS.  Addition of Ridley is big on his radar as well.  Still ranks KC, Cincy, LA Chargers and Buffalo ahead of us as the teams to beat in the AFC.

While I'm not a big fan of some of his opinions, he's been right on predictions about as much as any other national pundit.

I can’t agree on the fluke label. That was a good team all around. Even Bortles was solid until he regressed. The defense was really good. That team Almost got to the Super Bowl and should have. Then we all know what happened soon after. Bad drafting and players vs management. Fire sale.

Bortles played some monster games in 2017.  The London game and the Pittsburgh playoffs game were both incredible.  But he also disappeared for many games that year.  The Buffalo playoff game for one.  He was mediocre against the Pats.  A better QB wins that game and the Super Bowl.  But those good Bortles games ended up being flukes, for sure.

No way in Hades am I ever having those kinds of expectations out of the Jaguars.  It's nice to have some continuity,  and I think we have the best team in the division,  but it's a long season and there's a fine line between winning and losing.  I have faith the Jaguars are a playoff caliber team,  but in 2018 I had that same faith and we got kicked in the nads.

I am right there with you. Maybe not quit as far on the spectrum, after all Hades is pretty far.  I look at it as without two amazingly crazy plays, 3 if you count the fumble by Henry we would have lost 2 more games. We would have been 7-9 and about where I expected. On top of that the bug that hit our O-line in 2018 stayed away from us, just like 2017. 

I felt last year our offense made steady improvement as the season progressed despite having an o-line rated in the bottom third of the league. Hopefully, the plan is to improve this in 2023. It will play a large role in the continued improvement.

The defense FELT (to me) a bit up and down. They appeared a bit leg weary in the 4th quarter. I attribute this to recovery time between games and the level of our backups. We had more than a few players playing A LOT of snaps for extended period of games.

We will need improvement across the board this year. We are not going to sneak up on anyone.

That was the same drive, actually now that I remember it better.

First was the "helmet to helmet" on gronk, which replay showed shoulder made contact.
Second was a deep pass left side, ball was thrown out of bounds, and the contact between bouye and the WR wasn't enough to call PI, but they did. And then later on the same drive the PI you brought up.


Literally handed them their points.
