How long should Bortles play?

#21

Sit him until the regular season. In fact, the only offensive starters out there should be the line and Julius 'cause he'll gain 80 pounds if he sits for 2 weeks.

Quote:Definitely not.

Maybe we should sit him for the season so he doesn't get hurt.

I can't believe you people want to even remove him from his bubble wrap cocoon. He should lie quietly while ingesting only filtered air and water.

What does the run blocking have to do with bortles?

One series. That's it. I then bring in Allen to play with the first team through the half and part of the 3rd quarter. I then let Henne mop up. Might as well see what we have with Allen.

Some of you are so over-protective lol. These guys are still young and need as much game experience as possible. They can get hurt anytime. Pulling them early won't prevent injuries, there part of the game. All you can do is hope like hell the football gods are on our side this year. Almost time to beat some Bengal [BLEEP]!

Not playing doesn't prevent an injury? Are you sure?

Henne has been pretty bad this preseason. But Allen is way worse

Starters need to play or they would not.

Let Bortles play the first half. The only ones I saw should see limited reps are Yeldon and Ivory..and maybe Hurns due to his injury past. Marquise Lee should be out there from the start of the game until mid way through the 3rd..prove you can make it longer than 2 mins before injury

Romo got hurt 3 plays into the game. The only way to avoid that was to not play at all. He'll play the first half. I'd like to see at least one series to start the 3rd, depending on how the first half goes. If he's getting beat up like Luck was, I can see him pulled in the 2nd.

Ben Watson had it worse: on the first offensive play with no contact. It perfectly explains why Adrian Peterson refused to play at all in the preseason.

If he doesn't prepare he will get hurt. This preseason game is part of preparation. 2 quarters and a 3rd quarter scoring drive. If they don't score on the first possession of the third sit him anyway. 1 drive max in the third.

I wonder if some of the same folks suggesting Bortles play less than a half are also taking part in the critique of his accuracy/timing etc?

He can't get better if he doesn't play, folks.

In preseason people stop watching games when the backups start playing. They only care about the entertainment value.
