2017 Mock Draft Thread

#21

No comment on players yet, too early for me

But as for team needs...

- Vet edge rusher (this won't happen unless a team releases someone of note)

- Better starting SAM LB than Skuta

- Big, powerful drive blocking guard

- Blocking TE to soon replace Lewis

OTTO, SS (pending how Cyp plays the rest of the year, solid 1st game), LG (pending how Joeckel plays rest of the year, solid 1st game as well), another edge rusher, a young NT to learn from Big Roy because although I love Roy, at some point we're going to need a replacement and if he's ever out for a week or two we'll get torched in run game. Need someone who can step in and produce if something happens to him.

Those are my main things. I have my fingers crossed that Arthur Brown will supplant Skuta at some point and take that job and run with it but you can't bank on a guy who we just got off waivers at this point...but that's something I'm going to watch for.

He's a true sophomore won't be available till the 2018 draft.

By the looks of things I thought we would be drafting in the late teens maybe even early 20s.

That has changed and we will be drafting in the early teens maybe even top 10. I will do another mock this week to reflect that.

Early teens puts us in Peppers territory...which is the only positive I can take away right now.

It was pretty bad watching joeckel yesterday. His play and penalties stole a lot of momentum.

Depending on where the value falls, right now the #1 pick should be o line.

I haven't really even looked at any of the prospects but I guess I probably should start.

1st - Jabrill Pepper SS - Bye bye Cyp

2nd - Rod Johnson OT - Apparently has struggled a bit, but I like his potential.

3rd - Marquis Haynes OLB - A little undersized but gets to the QB. Bring him home.

4th - Nick Linder OL - Brandon's little brother. Has played LG and C at Miami.

5th - James Conner RB - Massive RB and feel good story.

6-7 I haven't looked that in depth at this class

Dave seems to knock every other draft out of the park:

2013 - Meh

2014 - WOW!

2015 - Meh?

2016 - WOW!

2017 - Uh oh.

1. Jabrill Peppers Michigan, LB/SS

2. Chad Kelly Ole MIss, QB

3. Ethan Pocic LSU C/G

4. Devonte Fields Louisville, Edge

5. James Connor Pitt, RB

This is what I got right now, I still love Bortles as our QB, but I like Kelly a lot and feel like he could be a great one and if Bortles isnt that, I want Kelly.

Offensive linemen in rounds 1 and 2. Cam Robinson in 1st and Dan Feeney in 2nd. Defense has sufficient talent once young players (Fowler, Yannick, Ramsay and Jack) get a year behind their belts. They can look for strong safety and another linebacker in mid-rounds.

We will likely have a new coach and new DC by next season, so it might be easier to mock draft when we know that gus is gone.

Pretty pumped to see Jabril Peppers playing on the same defense at Ramsey, Jack, Ngakoue, Fowler, Telvin and Gipson tbh

Bradley will reserve him to gunner duty while he learns both the FS and SS positions.

Bradley will be the Athletic Director of a high school in Fargo when we draft Peppers.

Going forward this team needs to continue to build up the defense and get the running game on track. I hope whoever the next coach is builds a Defense around our young talent. A fast, swarming, and versatile defense would fit our personnel going forward. I am usually against taking a RB high but if you think Fournette has AP potential then you have to think about it.

1. Leonard Fournette RB LSU - Could be Bortles best friend moving forward

2. Roderick Johnson OT FSU - Would start his career at RT. We need more push in the run game from that side

3. Alex Anzalone OLB UF - Finally healthy and plays like a poor mans Clay Matthews (looks like him too)

4. Josh Harvey-Clemoms SS LOU - 6'4" 230 lb SS/LB hybrid

5. Isaac Asiata OG UTAH - Moar run blocking plz

Peppers is the perfect guy for us, or Fournette he is the kind of RB that does not need a great OL
