I don't like keeping Trent but that's not fair.
The Jags don't get respect in the Pro Bowl system regardless, and it's very hard to make a case for a guy who's on a losing team. Once a team becomes a winning team, suddenly certain players get Pro Bowl attention who weren't getting it before.  The voters never really look at whose individual efforts are contributing on each play. They just look at stats.  And players on bad teams *usually* put up bad stats, even if those players are good.

Trevor probably would have put up a Pro Bowl season if he had good players around him consistently, ETN definitely would have put up a Pro Bowl season in 2023 if he had any kind of interior blocking helping him, and BTJ straight up did put up a Pro Bowl season just this year! The clowns who vote somehow are more impressed with Zay Flowers who has less touchdowns and less yards while playing on a better team.  That's three should have been Pro Bowlers, which is one more than the two that an average GM should be able to haul in with 38 picks.

If you're going to judge by Pro Bowlers, Travon Walker has yet to put up a Pro Bowl quality season, and the three guys drafted after him have already gotten Pro Bowl honors. I think you can definitely put that down as a mistake by Baalke, but it's a stupid metric anyhow.  It's not as if Hutchinson over Walker would have fixed this team this year.

You should never try to outsmart pure wins and losses. If you want to get specific, look at the high draft picks in the highly paid free agents and see if they were at positions of need and if they panned out compared to others that were available. But even after you do that, you are what your record says you are at the end of the day. The Jags played in 13 one-score games this year. They won three of them. Even if you assume they should have won half of those one score games, that still only gets you to eight wins, out of the playoffs and a losing record, with an incredibly talented franchise quarterback, and one of the highest payrolls in the league.  That's the metric to use, and I don't know how you look at that and still want to keep either Doug or Trent.

TBF he said All-Pro not Pro Bowl. Pro Bowl is typically a cr*p shoot especially with them doing it before the season even ends.

All Pro is typically a good indication at the Top 2-3 players in the NFL at any particular position. Yes, even for that you need the team to win to get your players more accolades. But none of the players you just noted have put up 1st team All Pro seasons, and outside BTJ none have had 2nd team All Pro seasons. It may even be tough for BTJ to break into the 2nd team All Pro team this year because he is a rookie.

It is an important metric though because teams competing for rings often have 4-6 players in the mix/conversation for All Pro honors. Given Baalke resume/pedigree, it is unlikely the Jags will have that level of talent on the roster.
