Trump Announces Economic Advisory Council

#21

Quote:Those are both important to me too. In addition, illegal immigration and foreign policy (stop causing chaos, arming "rebels" to fight a war we have no business fighting)

Ok, and I'm with you regarding out global military empire. Immigration isn't that large an issue for me.

But it looks like we agree on 3 main topics.

Here's where I'm coming from...

1. The TPP looks to be something that the corporatists in both parties are drooling over. Free trade is one of those issues that verifies that the elite have corrupted and now run our government.

Hillary has given soft support for not passing tpp, but I'm not holding my breath. The Clintons, and their economic policies have been pro free trade for decades. Trump says he's also against it, but as recently as this week he's caved into endorsing Paul Ryan and basically reading an economic policy speech on Monday that is Paul Ryan's policy verbatim. The elite republicans want tpp, I have no faith that trump would stand up to them. Not to mention that he's had experience in shipping jobs overseas to save on labor and other costs.

So to me, that issue is a push.

2. Citizens United and money corruption in our politics. This is where I think Hillary beats trump. Hillary is a policy wonk and knows how the sausage is made. She, along with Bernie can get this done. This issue is Bernie's baby, if she doesn't push for this when she's elected, I'm pretty sure she'll be a one term president.

Donald, on the other hand has never mentioned any solution to this "rigged" system. He just complains about it. And there is no republican that has ever discussed citizens United because they don't care.

Democrats win on this one, and so does Hillary.

3. The military industrial complex has been an big issue for me for a while. As you put it, causing chaos and arming rebels to fight proxy wars is a problem. The chaos we've caused and our military industrial complex is a major factor in destabilizing the middle east and has led to this Isis problem.

Hillary is a hawk. Trump is also a hawk. This one's also a push in my mind.

As JIB points out, it's a matter of the lesser of two evils.

But even if we look at just the issues and leave out the personalities of these two people, Hillary checks more of my boxes when compared to trump.

That's kinda where I'm coming from

The Clintons have been taking political bribes essentially for the longest time.  No way Hillary edges him out on political corruption.  Nobody wins with a Hillary election... at least not in this country.  At least with Trump there is a small chance he really is a nationalist with shades of isolationism.

The Paul Ryan endorsement does scare me.  I hate that move.  At the same time, all the little Cruz fanboys and people voting for establishment candidates in the primaries should be thrilled about that.  Him and Ryan co-authored TPP articles.
