I agree with you for the most part. I wouldn't exactly say that Reagan "scammed" Americans out of the money, but it was the start of a precedent that got out of control very quickly. What the situation does illustrate is how government is the problem.

I won't dispute or disagree with you that it was the start. However, it's become "the norm" in today's politics and has been since then.

Also there was a mad rush for people who had exhausted their 99 weeks of unemployment to apply for SS disability. Millions were approved and fraud was rampant. The disability portion of SS is gutting the retirement portion.

I don't have an article or proof, but I do believe there has been a noticeable surge in cases like that. Why work, when you can get paid similarly for staying home?
