I think the headline of this thread should be 'Man speaks to 2 other men about improving his performance'...

Nevertheless, it's a good read. Shows maturity etc..

80% of what I talk about is nonesense.. the other 25% is made up statistics...

Quote:Seems like they didn't really offer him any useful advice.

"build better rapport" ...um DUH

"don't throw every ball for 21points" ... Astute observation Aaron Rodgers!

Come on, where's the abundance of technical advice that these two men obviously possess?

I know. I'm hoping he left a lot out. The intent was to get their advice...not their autograph.

You go to coaches for technical advice (tactics), you go to established peers for savvy (strategy).

So Aaron, what should I do to beat you week one?

Naw, no woosh for you. Tactics and Strategy are pretty much synonyms. Anyone who has experience coaching or playing (many have done both) is a valuable asset for any sort of advice related to how to play the QB position, especially two prolific QB's

Quote:I would have to think there was a lot more advice offered than those nuggets, but those are soundbites that work in this article.

As Bullseye pointed out, even if their advice was limited to what's in the article, getting that from guys who have been doing this at a high level for several years tends to carry more gravity than even a coach.  It may seem pretty simplistic, but with all of the analysis and granular review of ever single aspect of playing that position by a host of sources, sometimes it's the simple stuff that tends to get lost in all of the information.
Yeah you're absolutely right, Im mostly of making fun of the article. I just wish they'd raise the bar as far as the intelligence of football articles, tv, etc. The phrasing is just soo incredibly dumbed down, not specific and incredibly redundant.
  • "So, commentator A how is the X team going to beat the Y team today?" "Well commentator B  X team just has to focus on eliminating turnovers and stop the run."
  • Commentator A "Coach Bradley told me his goal this game is to run the ball more"
^Cant wait to hear these all season. Is there really nothing more to say? Is football really as cut and dry as this?

I think the only advice Gabbert took was from the back of a shampoo bottle..

If bortles let's the game come to him rather than trying to score '21 points' each possession, he'll get a lot better.

Neither did his predecessor, even being called out by the owner to do so.

I don't really think that would be a very good thread title.

I survived the Gus Bradley Error.
