I know it's early, but what would a win against Aaron Rodgers and the Green Bay Packers mean to you as a fan?

The best start to a season in the gus bradley era.
To me, Gus is a loser. He's always 5+ games under .500 by November. Starting 1-0 will start to help forgetting that.
Question: It's safe to assume there are increased expectations for Bradley and the team overall. In other words his seat is at least warm.
What kind of start will turn the temperature down? Would a 2-2 start keep the torch and pitchfork crowd (not a dig) at bay? Would it matter how the 2-2 start played out? Would a win over Green Bay and one other team outweigh any other 2-2 combination? Would it matter if the team started 0-2 and battled back to 2-2 or vice versa? Or is anything less than a 3-1 start unsatisfactory? Worst to 1st. Curse Reversed!
I could take a 2-2 start if one of the wins was over green bay and the other the colts. In reality we should be hoping for 3-1 at worst but this fanbase just isn't used to that kinda thing over the last decade.
It sucks that we are hoping for a .500 start to the season and while i love my team i don't think anybody would be surprised if we started out 1-3 or even 0-4. Speaks to the constant negative feeling we've dealt with for years despite now possibly having possibly the most talented team we've had in years.

The only argument you would get from me is possibly beating the Ravens, because while the Colts game is against the Colts and a divisional opponent, the Ravens game is in Jacksonville and would be a win in front of the real home crowd, vs. winning in London. But overall, I think 2-2 is the minimum acceptable start this team could have. If this team starts 1-3 or worse, the clamoring for change would get really loud. Worst to 1st. Curse Reversed!
Quote:It would mean Rodgers is playing injured. Pretty much this. Our defense is going to need time to find cohesiveness. This may be one of the worst match-ups the Jags could have gotten in week 1. I'm seeing a big day from Jordy Nelson getting between the seams.
Quote:oh btw OK ... so you'll take the Jags and give me 14 points vs the Packers? We can place our bet money in an escrow account if you'd like. I have great legal contacts that can set everything up so the wager $$ is secure and the terms of the wager are explicitly clear.
Septiembre is the great "Fooler" month for the NFL.
Quite often, teams that look good in the first month end up fizzing out of contention or conversation by early December. Did Carolina look like a 15-1, Superbowl contending team in week 1 last season? The Jets looked like a "powerhouse" contender in Septiembre last year, then they started falling apart. Aaron Rodgers is one of the best, no doubt about it. However, Green Bay is not some impossible, unstoppable juggernaut that some people say they are. I've seen them beaten many times by teams that are average/decent the past few years. Green Bay is involved in mamy very close contests each year (it took a Hail Mary prayer for them to beat Detroit last year: DETROIT). IIRC, GB started 6-0 last year. Many were saying "Packers vs Patriots Superbowl, book it." Then, they ended up being a Wild-card team after notching 6 straight wins. Of course it would be TERRIFIC for the Jags to beat GB in week 1. If they do win, I'll be very happy, but I don't think it'll "mean" anything to me other than showing that Jax is back to being an NFL caliber roster. I already expect the game to be a close contest that could go either way. Jax has improved offensively and had an influx of defensive talent (albeit young). Green Bay is not an unbeatable juggernaut either. They are a good team with a QB that can "get it done" late in games when needed. That's just my opinion (1 opinion of varying hundreds). It would mean we are capable of beating any team and we have to show it the rest of the year

I don't care how it happens but this team needs a 10 win season. This team, players, fans and franchise need 10 wins.
Start 2-2, 3-1, or 0-6 but get those 10 wins.

I like the Jaguars a lot more in week 1 than week 2. Playing at home in front of a sellout crowd in the stifling heat gives the Jaguars a big advantage. Rodgers is elite, but the rest of their team is average. On the other hand, we all know what Rivers does against the Jaguars. Our fans will be talking playoffs after we upset the Packers and will then be trashing us after Rivers shreads the defense in week 2.

Quote:I think Ramsey will get his first pick 6 against Rivers. Why against Rivers? Rivers typically kills us. Not that I would complain, mind you. Just wondering about your reasoning. Worst to 1st. Curse Reversed!
It means an end to the tortuous losses on opening day every year.
I expect to win this year. Tired of excuses.. We show less advertisements to registered users. Accounts are free; join today!
I would be happy but a win in week 1 would still just be one win. Remember the Jags where only one score down to the Panthers in week1 last year until late in the game. The Panthers went on to a 15-1 record and to play the Superbowl. The Jags season went down the drain after week 2.
2 years ago, the Dolphins beat the Patriots in week 1 and the NE only won the Superbowl that year and the Dolphins as usual stunk.
It would mean ice cream for everybody! Gus is buyin'!

I agree with a lot of you. I expect to win. But this could be the biggest story of week 1. This will be a statement game if there ever was one.
