How do you feel about our LB'ers?

There doesn't appear to be much of anything to the Skuta story, so I don't envision any repercussions from it. Skuta is still expected to be the starting OTTO.

If I remember correctly L. Marts was also a MLB, he never played with Nickerson.
Also, Nickerson in his prime was better than Poz. I am a fan, not a cheerleader. We show less advertisements to registered users. Accounts are free; join today! Quote:If I remember correctly L. How do I feel about our linebackers?
I feel like right now, it's an odd mix. We have an aging MLB who is a really good run stuffer but not fast enough to be an above average coverage LB. We have two young guys who could both be superstars, but they are both perfect WLBs. Same position! Our SLB is Skuta. Not sure about him. If you had to ask me how they will line up for the first series this year, I am thinking it will be the same as last year. Telvin, Poz, and Skuta. Myles Jack will still be learning, and he'll play a lot on 3rd down, but for now, I don't think he will start for a while. It seems like we don't really have a solid idea of who is going to be SLB (Otto) on our Super Bowl team. We just don't seem set at LB to me. We have some odd pieces. They just don't seem to line up WLB, MLB, SLB, without putting Skuta at SLB and leaving Myles Jack on the bench.
I saw Jack while he was at UCLA. If healthy, he can be another Luke Koechel.
That would give the Jags a decent LB core with Smith and Skuta/Davis We show less advertisements to registered users. Accounts are free; join today!
We should be better than we've been in a long while.
A lot of youth, and I expect us to continue to get young there. Quote:Is Davis a LB though? Heck I thought he was a DE. He was. He's working at OLB now. May be permanent.

I dont see Jack as Poz replacement. And haven't seen anything to let go of Poz. What more can the dude do to show he is an impact player. Mlb's arn't pass rushers.

Quote:I dont see Jack as Poz replacement. And haven't seen anything to let go of Poz. What more can the dude do to show he is an impact player. Mlb's arn't pass rushers. This is my thinking as well. Jack is too good and too fast to only play 3rd downs. Poz makes too many tackles to not play in the middle. Davis hasn't show anything at LB. Skuta is just a guy. I'm hoping for Smith...Poz...Jack for 2016 and 2017. Then move Jack over in the middle like Daryl Smith did.
Quote:Hardy Nickerson wasn't on this team during his prime. Who said he was? He was here for a year I think lol I am a fan, not a cheerleader. Quote:Who said he was? He was here for a year I think lolObviously you thought he was to make that statement in a discussion about who were the best linebackers for the jags. Otherwise it would be nothing more than a random irrelevant comment. It's pretty apparent that the comment was nothing more than a poorly thought out attempt to diminish Poz's contributions as a jag.
Skuta provides some depth at a position we've been very thin at. I would almost put money on this being Posluszny's last year in Jacksonville. Posluszny lacks the athletic ability to make plays down the field in the passing game. He is a big liability in that aspect and why we gave up an insane amount of 3rd down conversions last year. He'll be a good mentor for the new guys and if healthy he's good at sniffing out runs and is probably our best tackler. Jack and Smith are athletic freaks that we all have high hopes for on the road ahead. As goes with our secondary I think the unit will look better if our front 4 can be more disruptive. I think we could use some depth but I'm happy with our LB's.
No pain, no gain.

If the lineup is Telvin/Poz/Jack I feel really good about that group. If they can make it 16 games together that would be awesome. I am more exited about our DL tbh.
Quote:If the lineup is Telvin/Poz/Jack I feel really good about that group. If they can make it 16 games together that would be awesome. I am more exited about our DL tbh. But what I'm saying is, Jack is a perfect Weakside linebacker. Put him out there and let him run around all day. However, that is Telvin Smith's position already. So move Jack to Otto? That would put him out of position. That's why I'm saying, we have some talent, but the pieces don't seem to fit. If Jack replaces Poz in a year, then if we draft or sign a Strongside linebacker to replace Skuta, then we'll be "set" at linebacker. But right now, it seems like we have players, but it's hard to say how they line up together at the same time. Putting Jack at Otto is putting a square peg in a round hole. That's not his best position.. Quote:But what I'm saying is, Jack is a perfect Weakside linebacker. Put him out there and let him run around all day. However, that is Telvin Smith's position already. Before the draft I made this exact reasoning to explain why we should not draft Jack at #5. Of course I'm glad we got him in round two, but this much remains the same. How do we get Jack on the field as a starter? Do we train him to play all three spots and rotate him all over? Or just maybe, should we start working him out at SS to replace Cyp?
