If Lee stays healthy and shows his true potential..

Quote:Doubt it. If he stays healthy this year we could probably extend him for cheaper than Hurns. The Raiders could offer him more. And he won't be getting the touches with Hurns ARob and Thomas in the mix. Maybe 5 to 7 touches per game.

I believe the dimension Lee brings is too different/valuable to trade. Especially if he remains healthy. We've had so much garbage at WR, I'm reluctant to let any real talent leave.
IT WAS ALWAYS THE JAGS
Quote:In a perfect world, sure. I'm not so sure it's always as easy as that though. How often do you see that situation happen in-season? True. I just mean if Lee shows he's clearly the better player, which is possible, he will start taking snaps from Hurns. Regardless of how much he's being paid. To clarify, I don't think there is a scenario where Hurns is "benched" it will be a 2a/2b with him and Lee depending on matchups.

I think we're mostly on the same page then. I think as they all get more comfortable, they will move all the WR around a lot more. We show less advertisements to registered users. Posted this in the other Marqise Lee thread but:

I met Marqise Lee @ Las Vegas airport during MDW. I believe he was waiting for an uber with a couple of his friends. At first, I didn't recognize him but I was walking to my Uber I realized who he was and walked up to him and said What up Marqise, it's Duval! haha. I told him that I know he's gonna kill it this year and he was truly appreciative of my words. It almost seemed like he was happier to see me than I was to see him! I wish I took a picture but I didn't want to feel like a groupie but as I was walking away to get in my car he said "Don't go too hard out here in vegas man, have fun!"

He is a stand up dude and I am rooting for him to kill it this year.

I understand what your saying but he would rather be a #2 than a #3. Hurns and Robinson are the WRS for this team. Lee is just bound to scraps after you throw Thomas in the mix. It's a great problem to have but injuries opened the door for Hurns.
Maybe I'm the only one who thinks it's *possible*. In terms of pure athletic talent, Lee > Hurns. There's a reason Lee was drafted high and Hurns was a FA. I don't think it will happen on any kind of consistent basis and anyway, Lee hasn't even proven he can stay healthy yet so until he can it's a non-issue.
I'm condescending. That means I talk down to you.

If he can keep the injuries away, Lee can absolutely be better than Hurns. I see them splitting reps as the #2 this year.

He's awesome but Lee has potential to be our missing stretch the field guy. Of course there is a lot of distance between potential and reality but we'll see.

We aren't missing anything in our passing game. We had 2 thousand yard receivers that caught 24 TDS together.
Lee is talented but injuries allowed Hurns to take his spot. When you throw Greene in the mix with his special teams ability, that makes Lee expendable. He's a sure fire starter, just not on this team. He will want a starting spot over #3 anyday. It's all about the money. And Hurns ain't getting skipped over by Lee on the depth chart. Lee is trade bait. Book it.
LOL
"Book it" Is that still a thing? I'd rather "book it" that Lee puts up 750 yards and 5 TDs this year and sticks around for the duration of his rookie deal.

In terms of pure athletic talent I don't think there's any question Lee>Hurns. I do think Hurns has some serious spatial awareness skills though. Not sure if that counts as an athletic talent. Quote:LOL Yes book it is still a thing. 750 yards and 5 TDS, are Julius Thomas type numbers. I hope Lee puts up a monster year. I realize he has talent which is why there's no room for him come contract time.
Lee is going to be hopefully our Victor Cruz type receiver from the slot with an occasional run on the outside in relief of Robinson or Hurns.

Quote:We're just gonna have to disagree here. I can't see us parting with Lee if he stays healthy. OK no problem. I have a question that I want your opinion on. What if Lee becomes a Free Agent and decides not to be a number 3? And what if a team offers a 2nd rounder and Caldwell ships him off to another team? With that said, I want him to stay as much as you. But we can't afford 3 high priced WRS and then Greene too. I mean we could but Lee has the talent to be a number 1.
Quote:OK no problem. That's interesting. It depends on how Dave sees him at that FA point. If he outplays Hurns and rivals ARob, I could see Dave giving him the money to make him the #1b/2. Especially since at that time Hurns will still be under contract another 2/3 years and the cap keeps rising. If Lee really wants out at that time, there isn't much we can do at that point except franchise him, and I doubt we'd do that. I don't know if Dave would take a second for him. If he's healthy and produces to the level mentioned above, I'd say he wouldn't, unless there's genuine reason to believe Lee wants to walk via FA agency. If he still can't shake the injury bug, then yeah he probably would.
IT WAS ALWAYS THE JAGS
Teams are going to want Lee and Greene eventually. Just like we wanted Cobb.
We are just stacked at WR |
