Telvin Smith called players only meeting last week
|
The fact that Telvin could call a meeting and his teammates show up speaks volumes. Definitely a well respected player. He gives 100% every snap and he's a damn good player to boot. Hell of a pickup by Caldwell.

Telvin Smith, such a boss!
Success is a journey, not a destination. Go all out Mighty Jaguars.
Quote:Only superstars are allowed to call a team meeting. He's not one, or there yet. That's bull, leaders call meetings. I love it! Quote:Only superstars are allowed to call a team meeting. He's not one, or there yet. Clown!

This is great news honestly, there is no way you can see it any other way.
I love Telvin even more now. I am a fan, not a cheerleader.
I heard that Max Wittek called a players only meeting. The guy is going to be a super star!
There are 10 kinds of people in this world. Those who understand binary and those who don't. Quote:Drafting Telvin will go down as the biggest 5th round steal of this franchise. Will Jack go down as the biggest 2nd round steal. He'll have to be out the Brackens and MJD to say as much. At the very least he'll go down as another blockbuster 2nd rounder like Mathis, Daryl Smith, Mo Williams, Mike Logan, ARob and Yeldon. What excites me most about Telvin is thinking about how much better he can be given the improvements in the DL and secondary.

The last 4 years, love them or hate them, they have been preparing with the intent and expectation of winning national championships and have played at that level. As a FSU fan I know UF will be the same way again soon. P.S. Smith rocks. ![]()
So telling, how the inane and negative is what most see, and respond to.

That's easily been our best round overall, although it's had a few total busts as well.

I think the timing of this meeting is what I like.
In most instances when you hear of players only meetings, it's long after a season has spiraled out of control, or is at least on the cusp of it. He took the initiative to call it in an April minicamp to set the tone for the season. That the team responded to it favorably is a good sign. Hopefully, the guys will take the message to heart and be more prepared and more accountable. Worst to 1st. Curse Reversed!
Shack was a 2nd round warrior, indeed. There was a running joke about that; just trade down from Rd 1

Quote:Oh yeah... Meester too. That's easily been our best round overall, although it's had a few total busts as well. Impossible not to have them ... Unless you don't participate in the draft. We used to get bad reviews for drafts like when we drafted Reggie Williams, Matt Jones, Alualu, R. Jay Soward, Anger etc and we always kinda tried to put them aside, trying to hope. It's nice not to have to do that. If players don't pan out- so be it. Like with Blackmon. Was a great pick but some things you can't control. Even Joeckel. Can't blame GM for taking him everyone thought he was legit. But please no more Matt Joneses, Reggie Williamses, Alualus etc. We show less advertisements to registered users. The lesson learned is not so much to not trade up, but to not trade up for a specific player. When you do, you're almost always picking a player of lesser talent over others available. We trade up and take the Jedi knight Derrick Harvey at #8 overall, and then move up to select Blaine Gabbert ahead of JJ Watt. BTW, I can see Blaine doing ok under Chip Kelley. He's the perfect HC for him. As we all know Blaine is helpless whenever he has to tuck the ball or otherwise has to improvise to make something happen. That said, the one thing he could do well was turn around and throw quickly to a spot. Well, what I just said there is precisely what Chip asks of his qb. It's a very quick offense where the qb just needs to set and throw.

Did he call this meeting pre-draft? If so, he has to call a new players meeting and just say "nvm we good"
