Maryland alum and fan checking in. I like Yannick (just call him Yannick). Sack numbers were a bit inflated but he's a good player. I think he's a high floor, low ceiling kind of guy. Sufficient but not great athlete, hard worker, good kid. Gets pushed around in the run game from time to time but not a glaring liability. I like it, he'll be a contributor early.

He reminds me of Whitney Mercilus a little. Not saying he will be as good.

He played well against Iowa last year. 1.5 sacks in that game. I'm excited about him. He has potential to contribute early as a pass rusher.

Caldwell says to him on the phone "You ready to become our LEO pass rusher".

It allows us to move Fowler around the line.

Round 1: cover the receivers

Round 2: cover the TEs and RBs.

Round 3: get after the passer.

I'm sensing a theme here...

No. He's Branch's replacement. Fowler takes over from Clemons and Yannick takes over from Branch.

Hope he's a better player than Chris Smith

Should his nickname be LEO?

And why would you assume that? They couldn't be more different

Correction: Sheldon Day is Alualu's replacement.

Dave's comment were kind of interesting. He said his original plan was to go:

1) Ramsey

2) Yannick

3) An unspecified LB who went in the 2nd (I am thinking he was talking Drion Jones)

Jack falling through an unexpected wrench in Dave's plan. Dave said he was surprised Yannick fells to the 3rd.

Still incredible to me that we got a top 5 talent in the 2nd and Dave's original 2nd round target in the 3rd.
