That one was thrown from from my car window on I-275 shortly after purchase. That said, that wasn't even the worst one. Load and Reload assured us of Metallica's death.

When they came out with the black album, I was like whaaaa???? It was over right then and there. Awful.

Metallica in their worst day makes better music than any rock/metal band today.


I never understood how someone could sit there and criticize and album with songs like Hero of the day, bleeding me, outlaw torn, until it sleeps, King nothing, and fuel. If any other band created songs like that, they would be praised. Never understood the hate for Load/Reload.


Not to mention, they are one of the best sounding, tightest live bands I have ever seen.

Well, by death I meant musically. I'm well aware of their popularity. And those songs are crap compared to anything on Master Of Puppets. You have to admit they changed, which is fine, but it shouldn't come as surprise some people didn't like the change.

Metallica is one of the WORST bands live, musically.  Their crowd energy can be amazing, however, depending on the venue.

 

They've never been very good live musically, and most if not nearly all of that is due to how sloppy Lars Ulrich is.  I'm a huge Metallica fan, but StroudCrowd must be tone deaf.  "Best sounding" and "tightest" is something no one EVER has honestly described Metallica live as.

You're changing the argument, likely because you know you're dead wrong.

 

They are good live, mostly because of the energy they have with the crowd.  That's already been covered.

The times I saw them I became convinced they were drunk. Everybody sucked. Kirk was ridiculously horrible, constantly out of key and out of time.


They were one of the worst bands I've ever seen. I've seen bar bands play their material better than they do.

This doesn't fit with great albums really, but I see that Axl Rose is gonna sub for Brian Johnson at AC/DCs last 10 shows of this tour. If he shows up that could be a really good match.

For once I agree with you.  Although I have to say I've never actually seen them in person, I've certainly seen their recorded performances and watched things like the RRHOF performance, etc. and they have always sounded amazing.  Of course they are usually on their game in those instances so perhaps when the cameras aren't rolling they just fall apart.  Doubt it though.

However, I saw them live during the "And Justice For All" tour. They sounded terrific that night. But, that was back when they were still fairly young in their existence. It was really good though.

Someone suggesting a bar band playing Metallica's material better than they do? Come on. That is trolling at the highest level and just over the line. I understand there are people who are still mad at them for cutting their hair and it might be "cool" to hate them post Justice album, but come on.

 

Metallica's wealth has allowed them to accumulate some of the best sound engineers, instrument techs, audio equipment, and that all translates into an amazing live sound. I don't believe anybody has ever accused Lars of being the worlds greatest or technical drummer, and while some of his drum fills do drive me nuts, he is still part of the fabric that makes Metallica.

 

Once again, everybody is entitled to their own opinion, and you clearly know mine. The other people who sold out their upcoming concert in Minny in under 10 minutes apparently agree with me as well.
