Alualu was one of my favorite players to watch.  He always worked hard, showed up for work, and never quit.  Can't say that about a solid percentage of NFL guys.

I get not being willing to defend a guy with a litany of off field issues like Soward.  But he had no more control over his draft position than Alualu.  Besides, just because the media didn't expect Alualu to be a top ten pick doesn't absolve him from the responsibility of producing like one. 

 

But the most important thing to me is the phrase I have placed in bold.

 

How does the phrase in bold not apply to Alualu?

 

Is he a nice/decent/wholesome guy?  By every account I've heard, the answer is an overwhelming yes.

 

But what did he do for us?  He's given us snaps, but no game changing/momentum changing plays during his time here.  No stretches where he approached dominance.  Not even a game where we looked at him and could even list him as a matchup advantage or someone opposing offenses had to account for. 

 

He's this generation's Renaldo Wynn.

Abry Jones was an UDFA. Hardly what should be considered "scrap heap"


Pretty much everyone agrees he never should have went in the first round. But calling him a bum is unfair to him. He was a solid rotational guy.

Lol Undrafted Free Agency is about as "scrap heap" as it comes in the NFL. Seriously, what would be lower than UDFA?


Alualu was a terrible Jaguar. Dude was constantly underwhelming in the beginning of his career, got his job stolen by SLIGHTLY less terrible Dlinemen, then was a healthy inactive for 2 games this year.


He's a good guy, and I wish him the best, but he's about as easily replaceable as it gets.

I remember everyone saying he hurt his knee during the Oklahoma drill, but do we know that to be true?


Because I saw him go up against Manuwai and walked away fine without any apparent injury.
