Some Love on NFL network about our new Free Agents

#21

Quote:Luke Kuechly was expected to be an ILB, yet Myles Jack is expected to be an OLB / WILL, I dont get the love for a running back turned LB whom blew out his knee already..

i mean with Fowler Jr having an ACL in his rookie year why would you purposely draft a guy #5 overall that might not even be healthy to play at the start of the season..

I just dont understand the logic there..
You are fairly misinformed regarding Jack buddy...

He didn't blow out his knee, it wasn't even that major of an injury. He already got cleared a few days ago and it's March. He also is far from a RB turned LB, he just happens to be such an amazing talent that he literally can play several positions and be elite at all of them.

I hope we change our philosophy to compensate from all of these signings and draft picks coming in. What I mean by that is the passive nature of our defense just getting abused in predictable situations by sitting back and waiting for what is coming. If you want to be a good defense in the NFL you have to be the aggressor.

No pain, no gain.

The ideal scenario for any defense is to be able to get pressure in the passer without having to blitz.    If you can get pressure on the passer AND have 7 guys in coverage, that is really hard to beat.

When you talk about "the passive nature of our defense" I think what you are seeing is a front 4 last year that could not get pressure on the passer by themselves.   That makes the defense look very passive.  So I think the problem isn't the plays, it's the players.   We don't have to change defensive philosophy, we have to get better players.

Well, Wash must have said the words "more aggressive" at least 5 times in the interviews/press conference I've seen since he was promoted. So..... I think he wants the defense to be, ya know, more aggressive.
