My only issue with Whitney's version was that she didn't actually sing it live.  Anyone of them could have done it in a studio and had a few shots at it to get it perfect....to do it live is a whole different level.

I don't think Lady Gaga has ever lip synced.  That's her whole thing.  I thought I read somewhere she's one of the only ones who didn't lip sync the sb national anthem, but I don't know for sure.

Actually the Super Bowl is the perfect place for a performance. I think that the National Anthem, no matter the setting, is not a song meant to be "performed" in the way that some like to.

No, Whitney definitely lip synced it.  She did such a good job of lip syncing that people had no clue.  It didn't come out until not too long ago that she actually did lip sync it.  I forget what they were worried about, but she chose to use the pre taped version.

 

You can tell Lady Gaga definitely sang...she threw some interesting tones in there at the end. lol

I had no idea! There was a bit of hubub about Jennifer Hudson's being taped and therefore this was the reasoning behind Whitney's being superior. I definitely respect Gaga for doing it live.
