Thanks Hurricane for bringing this to light. Just what I was saying in another topic. Terrible hire.

Davon House, aka our best DB, endorses him.

New Mexico State hasn't won a bowl game since 1960. I'm sure that's DeWayne Walker's fault.

They've only been bowl eligible like 7 times in 50+ years. I'll venture with a guess and say none?

*Overall 4-Year Record = 10 Wins - 40 Losses

*Total Points Per Game = 39.42

Final Year at NM State

Won 49-19

Lost 51-24

Lost 41-28

Lost 27-14

Lost 35-14

Lost 26-18

Lost 41-7

Lost 28-14

Lost 42-7

Lost 47-7

Lost 50-14

Lost 66-28

Dude gave up 205 points in his final 4 games at NM State

Can someone please explain to me how we identified this coach to be our solution to developing a top secondary in the NFL ?

Now read how the Jaguars describe Walker's tenure at the Jags & New Mexico State

Good point if they are going to fire Babich for the pass defense being horrible (as they probably should've) than why not fire the DB coach?

After reading the article about House endorsing him it seemed to me that might be more of a friendship and less of him being a fantastic DB coach.

Accountability - A term put on motivational posters that allows people to yell at someone for doing a bad job instead of helping them get any better.

I'm trying to make myself more informed and less opinionated.

Stop saying whatever stupid thing you're talking about and pay attention to all the interesting things I have to say!

Quote:Love the detail.  Very interesting that he only coached for Carroll, Belichick, and Gibbs during their down years.   Coincidence?  I think not.

Looks like Belichick got rid of him after 1 season when his Pats finished 5-11.    I wouldn't give him any credit for Malloy and Ty Law given the fact that their defense became good after he left.

USC?  he was there for a year so I'd be hard pressed to give him credit for Polamalu.
I was just thinking that...

That post did not help dude's credibility as DBs coach. If anything he was a coach somewhere long enough for them to get worse, and then he was canned.

How did he get a HC job at all with that resume lol

The players that he recruited, coached up, and managed to give up 205 points in his final 4 games while finishing 1-11

To be fair, a smaller school like that isn't going to be getting be getting 5 star recruits.  There's only 3 players in the entire NFL from that school.  Coincidentally two of them are DBs, obviously one being House.

Another recent NFL CB who played at  New Mexico St. is Jonte Green,  the Lions 6th Round pick in 2012.   He lasted with the team for 2 seasons.   As many problems that New Mexico St. has had,  DeWayne Walker and co. did a good job in at least getting DBs on the NFL radar screen.
