Bortles threw 18 picks this year
|
He also had to throw the ball a ton and had a bad OL and a so so running game
He is also finishing his 2nd year Not a concern at all, if his jump from year 1 to year 2 is that big, think of how big his jump will be for year 3

The timing was usually back breaking for momentum. However, I think next year he will absolutely cut down on the turnovers with an improved line, running game and just more experience. Hopefully next year we don't have to throw so much. I don't get that.. Of course they were all back-breaking interceptions. When your defense can't stop anyone, you're always a series away from falling behind. Any INT is a momentum killer when you can pretty much count on the other team cashing the turnover in for 6
10 years ago we had Bob Hope, Johnny Cash, and Steve Jobs..... Please don't die, Kevin Bacon.

Nothing kills momentum quite like that and yes you are right about our defense.
I'm curious how many came from throwing to Marcedes. It seemed like every time.

Quote:When you throw 35 TDs, second only to Brady, 18 picks really aren't a concern. WHEN YOUR WINNIIIING... ok.. last time this year and crossed fingers for next... Blake is... by any stretch of the imagination...is BBINT MOMENTUM is a hell of a thing
A lot of ignorance on this board. INT numbers are irrelevant. INT % rate is all that matters. Bortles is above average.
Fanboi Blinders ^
Lots of people disagree with your fanboi'ism and its not all about STATS. Football isnt all numbers, stats, %'s... its emotion, momentum, confidence, intricacies, tendencies, field positon and MUCH more. I love Bortles but.. He's got a LONG way to go... Gunslingers are freaking AWESOME... when they WIN... when they don't put you in a position to lose again and again. If your going to lead the league in INT's... Ur positives need to outweigh the boneheadism. And u tell people THEY don't know football. lol.. Surely u jest.. We show less advertisements to registered users. Dude is forced to take tons of chances considering we can't stop anyone at all.
I'd never have thought he'd throw 35 TD's this year, under any scenario. I'll take it.
First season in a new offense its not a major concern given 35 tds, but it cant be ignored either. He should get better and has to get better.
Quote:Dude is forced to take tons of chances considering we can't stop anyone at all.I'll take it too... but.. i think theres def. been times when he should have NOT taken those chances. I do blv Blake has the ability and smarts to correct this.... I just don't know if its possible under this HC and behind this Jello Cheesecake OL I almost pity him to have been picked by the Jags.
Some of the picks were just terrible, but I'm not concerned. Like I said all year, he had to play reckless for us to have a chance to win.

at least he gave us a chance. We all thought we could win any week this year, unlike last year with henne where we knew it was gunna be 250 yards a pick or two and a garbage time TD

At some point you just have to let go of what you thought should happen and live in what is happening.
Quote:How many were pick sixes? How many were deflected before the interception?

Bortles is like Favre, no fear and can throw any pass at any time and like Favre there will be interceptions. Bortles is a gun slinger, not a finesse passer.
Quote:Depends who deflected it.... eh? Does one mean that Bortles is more responsible for the INT than the other? I can think of 3 that resulted from a DL that couldn't be stopped by the OL and WRs that couldn't hold on to the ball. I'm sure there are far more since I didn't watch every game. Quote:Highest in the NFL.Yes and no. Bortles has to make better decisions with the ball, and that will come. It's not a disastrous thing because he attempted 606 passes. That's a lot. A way lot. One in every 34 passes was intercepted, which is an ok ratio when you're running an offense as aggressive as the Jags' was. The bigger concern for me is the 14 fumbles. Way too many for a QB to have, and you can't blame all of them on Wiz or D-Rob. |
