Odel Beckham - merged

#21

That launch was dirty, and it's sad that because he's a star player in the NFL's largest market, all he will get is a slap on the wrist (fine). How could the refs miss something like that? It is counter-productive to the NFL's intention to make the game safer. This was one of the few times that a helmet to helmet hit was INTENTIONAL. He should be suspended, and fined significantly. I didn't watch the game, but if he also threw punches...

Seems like we don't have a diva in the NFL, past Dez, at WR... OBJ is becoming that TO-like or Chad Johnson-like diva.

TO talked a lot of trash and celebrated TDs but he never acted like that towards another player

This is true, he could be worse.

He should of been ejected, big fine today from the league, and sit next weeks game. Nope. The guy got the "Star Treatment". Most other players get flagged and ejected after that. If that was a DE on a QB the NFL may have banned him for life.

Quote:I agree that OBJ was the most egregious offender, especially with that disgusting launch, but Norman had been going at him all game as well. Keep in mind Norman is a guy that fought his own QB, so I can't imagine he didn't do his part in instigating that dangerous situation.

Talking to instigate is totally different than throwing a punch....come on man.

And Cam ran Josh down in practice - Josh didn't start that.

Quote:I disagree. IMO neither of them should miss any time. Fine them both for sure, OBJ deserves a much larger fine, but most players don't get fined for their first launch into defenseless receivers. I don't see why this would be any different when it comes

Wait....so you think a defender launching into a receiver is the same as a dude running 15 yards after the play is over to deliberately hit someone in the head when they're not looking?

Just wow!

Seriously, that hit to josh normans head was after the play was over, purposeful head hunting, direct helmet to helmet.

He could have been seriously injured. It was disgusting. If OBJ doesn't get a huge fine and a suspension I'll be pretty upset.

I know if a player that I played with in a league did that, 90% of his opponents will have a bullseye on his back from now on. I hope he gets destroyed.

I agree with most of whats been said. But i really hate the panthers, ill admit i enjoyed watching him hit finnagan on the one punch too. Sure i could be all self righteous and act like i care about safety and am concerned for the image of the game, but i dont and im not, and i dont like either of these teams, panthers especially, so i found it all quite funny tbh. I only wish he could have ear holed that arrogant sack of [Bad Word Removed] cam.

I didn't watch the game but if all Norman did was talk trash to be an instigator against OBJ (didn't throw any punches etc) then I'd entirely agree.  You don't think these defenders know that OBJ is a head-case?  You don't think they know he's easily rattled?  Why wouldn't they instigate?  If he can't handle it like an adult that's his problem.  He has some serious issues in the head to target another player, after the play is over, helmet to helmet.  If the league is serious about protecting it's players and head trauma you will see a stiff fine and multiple game suspension.  I'm not talking two games multiple. I'm talking into next season multiple.  Things like this are things the league needs to set examples on..not the Patriots POSSIBLY deflating a few footballs.   OBJ should have never been allowed to finish that game.  Any referee that missed that should be suspended as well.  I get that you cannot see everything but you can't tell me no official saw that.  I didn't watch that part of that game but they had to see it, didn't they?  Did he not get flagged either?

Norman is a trash talker.  And can back it up.  People with ego's or fragile psyche's like Cam and OBJ don't handle that well.

You mean the league MVP who threw 5 TDs, ran for over 100 yards, and led the game winning scoring drive in the last minute and a half? Ok good call.

Seriously....when you guys use your hate towards a player to make these stupid statements it only makes you look like a complete idiot.

The Panthers are historically as irrelevant as the Jags....I can see why you hate them.

What I found saddest about this situation is Tom Coughlin allowing it to happen. The man is trying to keep his job, and sacrificing integrity in the process. He should have benched OBJ, or at least held him out a few series and chewed his butt.

Lol calm down drama queen. If you watch the play again you'll clearly see that the ball carrier is in the process of being tackled to the ground and thus the play wasn't over yet. Please stop trying to make it seem like it was a dead ball foul and OBJ ear holed the guy as he walked back to the huddle or something. That's not what happened all.

Clearly it was a dirty hit and should have been flagged at the time. I'm not condoning what Beckham did but I was trying to draw a comparison to similar situations. A DB who has never been suspended for launching at a defenseless receiver rarely gets suspended for his first offense. I don't see why this would be any different. Fine them both like I said and move on.

If OBJ is suspended I fully believe it's because of who he is and the amount of media coverage the who deal received.

Norman also body slammed OB to the ground. He was guilty of actual physicality too

Drama queen? Maybe you think you're talking TO OBJ but you're not.

The tackle had been made and OBJ had zero intention of going in and making a block.

That was classic!

2 of the best out for blood. Look for fines from both sides.

I'm glad the refs let em play.
