Jaguars sign Jonas Gray

#21

The bigger issue is if he can pick up the blitz. Don't want Bortles getting blown up!

Blake Bortles sometimes has a problem with picking up the blitz, so I can't expect a player who just joined the team to do it every time. But Jonas Gray is not a bad RB, so he can be good for us against bad defenses.

Quote:The timing (two days after T.J. Yeldon was unable to finish a game) makes me think it is a short-term signing. However, this could turn out to be the final straw for Toby Gerhart if Jonas Gray plays well.

I wonder how many snaps Gray would get Sunday if Yeldon is ruled out. Denard Robinson is serviceable, but can't punch it over the goal line.
1. Gerhart is on injured reserve, and no one but Toby Gerhart's mother expects him to be back next year. His mother might have even given up on him, tbqh.

2. Not many. For one, there's a reason he's been on and off of NFL rosters a few times since being cut by the Pats--he's just not that good. Two, D-Rob punched it in on short yardage last week, so, yeah, bye.

He already played Houston this year too.  4 YPC on 12 touches.

I like the signing......give him a chance, he just might stick,

Some of these guys just need the right atmosphere to shine.

5'10" - 225 ....nice compliment to Drob and AJ when he returns.

I assume you mean T.J. We don't have an A.J. who plays RB.

We have TY, DR, BP, TG if you include players on IR, and SJ if you include guys on the PS. Who am I missing?

Just answer the question. Nobody ever mentioned a running back with an A name in this thread.

Yes, we have running back BB.

I asked why someone thinks we have a running back with the initials AJ when there obviously isn't one.

You're right. The other board member just typed in error (mentioning DRob and A. J. as our backs).

Yep, I knew it. That had to be a typo and the other poster just wanted to drive me nuts. Yes, I did forget about Banyard, but again his initials are not AJ.

Thanks for keeping us all straight on that one, JD.

Denard Robinson got a lot of carries after T.J. Yeldon went out. He clearly is not as good as Yeldon, but good enough to get our offense moving.

Hmmm.................why isn't he as good as Yeldon? Maybe he isn't but maybe he is. Maybe he is better at some things but not at others.
