Jaguars Wide Receiver's Corp is ranked 2nd on PFF

Quote:Paul Posluszny and Jared Odrick are former Nittany Lions too. Do you have an issue with players coming from PSU?

NO --- read my prior posts.  PSU DOES NOT HAVE A STRONG TRADITION OF WR SUCCESS IN THE NFL.

The last I checked the referenced players above play defense.

Stick to the topic and my response and quit attempting to throw [BLEEP] at the wall to see if it sticks

It's like Dave said: "oh hang on a minute let me fix this WR problem we've had since JIMMY SMITH retired" <one off season> stars everywhere!

Dave, please work that magic on defense now.

If I remember correctly you also didn't think the Jags should of drafted the safety Adrian Amos for the same reason, past history of PSU DB's. He has started at free safety all year for the bears and PFF has him as their #5 rookie of the year thus far, above Amari cooper.

Fowler coming back and another 1st and 2nd round draft pick on Defense should definitely help next year.

Walters is an excellent fit. In a normal situation, he wouldn't even be a 3rd or 4th guy. But with AR, JT, and Hurns getting all the attention, BW is allowed to just catch passes. He will be an outstanding move the chains guy.

also from PFF

Most likely to take the long shot
Most deep passing yards: Blake Bortles (Jaguars), 835 yards

Single-season Record: Eli Manning (Giants), 1,419 yards (2011)

No quarterback has thrown for more yards on deep passes through the first nine weeks of the season (since 2007) than Blake Bortles. His mark of 835 yards tops the 780 that Drew Brees racked up by the same stage of the 2008 season, and puts the Jags’ signal caller on track to challenge Eli Manning’s mark of 1,419 deep passing yards, which he set in 2011 en route to his second Super Bowl victory. Unsurprisingly, Bortles’ favorite targets, Allen Robinson (381) and Allen Hurns (285), lie second and fifth, respectively, in receiving yardage on deep passes.

Also, with more experience Bryan Walters will become more than just a pass catcher, but actually run with the ball after getting hit. I love having him in the slot.

QB Blake Bortles career stats

2014 475 att, 280comp, 58.9%, 2,908 yards, 6.1avg, 11TD, 17INT, 37 20+, 6 40+, (Sack 55), 69.5 Rate

2015 311 att, 175comp, 56.3%, 2,193 yards, 7.1avg, 17TD, 10INT, 39 20+, 6 40+, (sack 25), 83.2 Rate

If you look above at the stats notice how he is only 715 yards short of last year's total yards thrown, and he has already thrown six more Touchdowns this season than all of last years!  He has 2 more 20+ yard passes already, and the same amt of 40+ as last year... he hasn't been sacked nearly as often & his Rating is way higher this year due to it.... He needs better protection from the Oline & for TJ Yeldon to be more productive so that teams have to stack the box instead of dropping back...

---------------------

The team is starting to get noticed for its passing threat in the media, heck even in Madden 16...

I can't believe what I'm reading. Seriously, the guy who has thrown for the most deep passes plays for the Jags. Think about that.

Also, last year he only played in 13 1/2 games, so those stats are for only 13 1/2 games.

In the next 5 1/2 games we will be able to match up what he did last year and what he does this year through the exact number of games played, and we already see that there is some really nice progress from last year to this year.

I survived the Gus Bradley Error.

If the team can get better play from the line, he'll be even better.

Look at this clean pocket on the Hurns TD. He can just pick teams apart if he has time.

Quote:I remember when the WR position used to be horrid. I hope I can say the same about the Dline one day
I can remember when the WR position was pretty talentless as well. Much, much better shape then it's been in a long time.

The D-Line is far from horrid, but it needs a piece or two.

They need Fowler to come back healthy and add another pass rusher or two. Marks being a year recovered next season will help alot too.

Yeah sure, but just imagine how good our offense will look once we get even an average QB back there.
