Losing is a foregone conclusion, you don't have to hope for it, it'll just happen.

Quote:Your hope will come true. We will get smashed. This team cannot even get up at 1pm to play a game. How do you expect them to play at 0930?

EDIT: I'll throw this in here for good measure

We don't need to wish for a loss.  It just happens on its own.

When does the "competitive" part begin?

When you get into the endzone, act like you've been there before.

As much as hated watching HC Mularkey, I still never want my favorite team to lose...

except when all hope is gone and im hoping for a better draft pick (but that is usually when they have an obivious star like Andrew Luck) this year I simply want them to win and go to the playoffs

but sadly it is what we had all kind of deep down expected..

another 3 win year

It's not tanking when you suck.

Wrong! Wanting to win games when the season is already 'out of reach' is bad gamesmanship! The difference between 'sportsmanship' and 'gamesmanship' is that sportsmanship is about playing by the rules. Gamesmanship is a mindset that plans strategy to help win games. The wining teams have the best gamesmanship minded leaders. Sportsmanship is nice... it's required as a matter of fact; but it isn't what wins championships.

You play to win in the 'big picture', not just for the moment. It's the difference of winning a battle... or winning the war. We want to someday compete for a superbowl championship, not just win games at the end of the season when already eliminated from play off contention (the toilet bowl competition)... the net effect of which is to take away a higher draft selection and make that super bowl quest even harder to reach. It's throwing away hope for tomorrow for some cheap gratification today; and nobody respects those end of season wins anyway when you and the team you're playing are both out of contention. All they do is artificially fluff up players stats and lower the 'winning' teams draft selection.

But that's okay... go ahead and keep on chanting 'win team win' and the Jags will continue to shine in the 'toilet bowl' for a long time.

Trust in the process, guys. It's not about winning or losing. It's about getting a tie. Let's go out there and tie!

Hmmm there are several things wrong with this argument.

1)Do you really think NFL players agree with your stance and would purposely try to lose all of their remaining games once they're out of playoff contention?

2)What about rivalry games? Should we lose them on purpose too for a better draft pick.

3) People respect end of season wins a lot more than a 1-15 record.

4) By your reckoning if the team is 0-9 ,should we tank the whole season and go 0-16 in order to guarantee the number 1 pick?

5)Can you show some examples of where this gamesmanship strategy has led to a Superbowl for a team?

One thing about it, when we try to win....we lose......but that's okay. Gus says so.

Better to try to win and lose than try to lose and lose no?
