Your Jags mid Oct. Jags top 5 draft board ?

Quote:Nkemdichie. He is another Marks like player. Pair him with Marks Odrick and Fowler Jr and our secondary won't need VHG3
Why would you pair a guy that is already like Marks/Odrick/Alualu/Bennett etc at 3/5T (aka already the best and deepest part of our team) when you could have a different beast in Bosa who can play the edge much better?

You're comparing Nkemdiche to Alualuh/ Bennet/ Odrick ????

If we drafted Nkemdiche he would automatically become our best DT, that being said because no one knows how Marks will bounce back after his injury.

okay but we  couldn't have them both on the field at the same time while with Bosa we can is his point so. Bosa also lets Fowler play linebacker.

Agreed. I'd have a line of Bosa, Marks, Miller, Odrik with Fowler at strong side LB and then on passing downs go with Bosa, Marks, Odrik, Fowler.

Bosa

Rushing the passer is important. We haven't had anyone who could consistently do that in my adult life.

The faster we replace guys like Branch and Clemons, the better.

Hargreaves - Shut down CB we need

Ramsey - Playmaker we need at FS or CB

Nkemdiche - perfect fit for Gus defense, can play the 5 tech or 3 tech

Bosa - Can never have too many pass rushers

Jaylon Smith - Playmaker at LB

Love seeing most everyone agree on a top 5. Now can we land one of them or will someone else slip into our pick?

I don't think Bosa is the pass rusher some of you think that he is.  He's been a career left end going against a lot of right tackles that won't be playing in the NFL on Sundays.  He's made his living off of being physically superior to the players he's lined up against.  He's probably a LE in the NFL as opposed to Leo or RE.  Sure, he should bring more pass rush than Odrick, but overall, he's not that much of an upgrade over him.  Still a top 10 pick, but I don't see the need on this team.

1.) Laremy Tunsil

2.) Vernon Hargreaves

3.) Jalen Ramsey

4.) Jaylon Smith

5.) Myles Jack

Laremy Tunsil is a bit raw in pass pro and as a result can get caught off balance.  His hands are a little high.  He could develop more power overall.  He has very high hustle and gets after defenders in the run game.  Usually a big collision because he blocks at full speed.  If he developed a little more power he would absolutely demolish defenders at the speed which he makes contact.  Hargreaves is a shutdown corner with elite playmaking skills.  He is great in run support.  He lacks the height to win jump balls against tall receivers when the play is executed perfectly.  Slightly susceptible to comebacks.  Jalen Ramsey would be a FS with playmaking and coverage skills.  Jaylon Smith is more of a middle linebacker.  Myles Jack would have to recover from injury, but he's a prototype Otto.  He plays better downhill pass rushing than having to defeat blocks in a lane.  Not a read and react player.  He's a go get'em player.  I would have Joey Bosa somewhere between 6 and 8 I think.

If they feel Hargreaves is a true shutdown corner, they should take him. If not, either the best left tackle or Ramsay. One of those guys will certainly be available since the Jags are destined to again pick in the top 5 or 6.

FreeAgent01...Tunsil has given up 2 career sacks..I'm not sure "Raw" is the correct word.

Hargreaves is a beast. He is constantly forcing strips and getting picks. I am torn between him and Bosa if we are picking high.

Honestly. .with the way Treadwell is playing right now..we couldn't go wrong with him. He's a bit more talented than Robinson but more raw

It would be a bit of a "luxury" pick but how lethal would we be with AROB Hurns and Treadwell outwide

He is good, but he is raw. There are plays in pass pro where he gets embarassed because of footwork and hand placement. I think he will be a very good pass blocking tackle, but he has some work ahead of him still. He's not polished by any means. He wouldn't be #1 for me right now if I didn't believe in him. I think when La'el Collins came out he was ahead of him, but we haven't gotten to see Tunsil's improvements this year yet.

I'm only bringing this up not to argue with you but only to perhaps learn..but can you tell me when he has gotten embarassed in pass pro except for maybe one of the 2 sacks he has given up? I watch a lot of Olé Miss football as an alumni and I've never seen him truly embarassed.

Against LSU last year. There were a few plays. One play he got knocked backwards onto his butt and then run over, almost giving up the sack.

I like him though. I like tackles who don't give a lot of ground and initiate contact when pass protecting and he is one of them. Ronnie Stanley is a lot more like Joeckel where he gives a ton of ground and doesn't actually make contact until the rusher is almost an arm lengths away from the quarterback. He's kind of stiff like Joeckel as well.

This. Please this. I have been banging the pavement for this guy all year. So much playmaking and we'd finally have our #1 to set the WR position. I would love to somehow double up and get 2 1st rounders this year and get a Hargreaves/Ramsey in the top half and jump back up for Treadwell. Pricey yes but so so worth it. Playmakers are what we need to take that next step. Depth can be found later.

Close, but not in my top-5.

Smith - He is slightly behind Stanley in my top 5, could go either way.

Hargreaves - Plays smaller than his 5-11 frame, gets pushed around by big receivers (not very physical), and doesn't possess elite speed.

Treadwell - I would rather attack needs before depth.

Almost leaning towards Nkemdiche or Bosa.  I think our LT position may be serviceable, whereas our defense and pass rush is awful.  Getting Fowler back should help but we can't expect him to change everything.
