Quote:Oddly enough our most consistent receiver so far is the rookie Rashad Greene lol I had a feeling he would be what he's shown so far in the pre-season, reliable with sure hands. We show less advertisements to registered users. Accounts are free; join today!
Before jumping on AR, let's wait til it really matters. His drop percentage last year was among the best in the NFL at 1.2%. And that was as a possession guy. He wasn't working in open space. He was getting popped when he caught the ball. Hurns is the guy to worry about.
I was a bit concerned to see him in the game after injuring his shoulder, especially after the way he winced after dropping the potential TD catch.
He'll be fine.

I'm surprised with the drops. But I'll be more concerned in the regular season.

I was scared when he went down and even more so when he went back out... he has been a bit more dropsie this preseason but I believe he will clean it up. I do like what Hurns did last night as well as RG.
I honestly think yesterday was an aberration. Robinson isn't a #1 WR, but he can still have a great season, and potentially be our first 1000 yard receiver in a long time. Especially if Bortles' play from yesterday translates to the regular season.
Allen has the physical talents to be our Anquan boldin. Don't give up on him yet jags fans!

Especially if Bortles' play from yesterday translates to the regular season. I agree completely with this statement. Robinson's drop came when he was already in ill shape and probably shouldn't have been in there to begin with. This guy has star potential written all over him. And, he's still young. The more reps this WR corps gets, the better they're going to get. And, those that don't get better will find themselves unemployed.

His drops weren't after his injury. He had two drops before, dropped one on the hit that injured him, then the potential Td catch. I'm not too worries, our recievers always seem to have the dropsies during preseason. On the plus side, Rashad Greene has stood out to me. And well Hurns, is being Hurns with those clutch catches.

Rashad Greene looks like he has a better feel for the game than most rookie WRs and should be a good complimentary piece in the Jaguars Offense. After watching Allen Hurns against the Bears and Lions last pre-season, it was evident that all 32 teams made a mistake by not drafting him. I'm not sure if Hurns caught that 3rd Down sideline pass against Rashean Mathis in-bounds. If it was a regular season game, Jim Caldwell likely would have challenged the play. Even if Hurns didn't catch the pass in-bounds, it was still a heck of a play. The TD route was also very impressive. He's definitely a starting caliber NFL WR. Are you talking about the tippy-toe sideline catch? They didn't really show enough replays. Hurns not getting drafted had much to do with their being so many good looking WRs in the draft. He only ran in the mid-4.5s, and I'm thinking his tendency to body catch was evident. I know he's been working on catching with his hands, and it showed during the Lions game.

Quote:Are you talking about the tippy-toe sideline catch? They didn't really show enough replays. The original post didn't finish. It's a keyboard issue on this end. I believe Jim Caldwell would have challenged the play in the regular season, taking the chance that it w ould be overturned. But Caldwell mentioned after the first pre-season game against the Jets that the Lions didn't have enough Defensive plays. Even with 72 Defensive plays against the Redskins, I think Caldwell wanted to see the Lions Defense more. Hence, the reason for that play not being challenged. Little did Caldwell know that the Lions wouldn't be able to get the Jaguars Offense off the field. From my perspective, Allen Hurns looks natural catching the ball. He's done a great done working on correcting the problem you described. We show less advertisements to registered users. Accounts are free; join today!
Umm, that's being suuuuuper nit picky to call those drops...he had a good shot at one of them the other 3 'drops' would have been incredible catches.
That tip toe catch by Hurns definitely was out of bounds but kudos to the Jags for running the next play
I'd honestly rather see Rashad Greene slot. All he does is move chains in critical downs. He id it throughout his whole collegiate career. Marqise Lee isn't reliable in the game and half of the time not healthy enough to play

He needs to stay healthy for an extended period of time. At this point he seems to be as injury prone as it gets.

A lack of maturity and poor hands are what stands out when I think about him - other than the injuries. He is actually more athletic than I thought he would be, but it doesn't mean much if you cant stay healthy or catch the ball.
