Davon House says Bortles flashed "some Aaron Rodgers things in practice"

Hey man, why are you sweating him with his bortles hate because you know he's fresh out of high school trying to find himself.

not true... Have you ever watched Tim Tebow practice?

Bortles idol is Favre and he plays just like him.  Tough as nails. He's going to scramble, improvise, make some great plays and some bonehead plays.  As long as he wins like Favre I'll take it.

I have a feeling you're not making it until the end of the season

I disagree. I don't see bonehead plays. At least not this year so far. All his throws were correct reads from that first game. I used to think this was how he was gonna play but now as I seen him improve, I tend to think other wise. In the other thread it was stated that most of his throws were in under 3 seconds. That's tells me he's learning the corr ct reads to make.

Quote:Good take.  No need to constantly apologize when you have a good take.  Could have saved a few lines.  :teehee:

You can't blame the guy. Anytime anyone says anything good about the team, there's always someone right below to tell you how wrong you are and how ridiculous that sounds. Blake will be great. Boom, I said it and I'm not apologizing!

What is he going to say he friggin blows compared to Rodgers. I'm all in on Bortles, I do believe he has improved but we won't really know until the real bullets start flying come the season opener. I don't remember stats or anything but I do remember watching Bortles last preseason and thinking this guy is gonna be a star. Then the real season started and he really struggled, let us not forget how good Gabbert looked in the preseason as well under Mularkey either.

I'm not sure that Rodgers is the best comparison. Blake runs around and throws on the run a bit more, although his zip on the ball, while NFL caliber, is nowhere near as fast as Rodgers. A better comparison might be Tony Romo.

His Madden ratings must be insane. His power level is over 9,000!

Bringing up Gabbert and Bortles in the same thought is just dumb.

There's a false view of just how "good" Gabs looked in preseason. He looked good relative to his normal play.

The difference here is that Gabbert's BEST preseason game didn't come anywhere near any of Blake's. He showed more in one game than Gabbert did in his career. Even in preseason he had no pocket presence or feel. Let's stop pretending that Gabbert looked HOF caliber in preseason, he didn't. We just got excited when he would do ANYTHING

Gabbs only look like a hall of fame player in practice.  Like my man AI say: We're talking about practice, not a game, not a game, we're talking about practice.

Even that preseason he looked better, he was absolutely atrocious against Baltimore and that was a hint of things to come.

It's weird how afraid some people are to admit that Bortles looks so much better.

Probably not, but the reason for the comparison is that House played against both in practice.  So that's his reference from first hand experience.

While there's no disputing that Tony Romo level play is definitely an upgrade over what we've seen for years now, I still cringe at hearing Bortles compared to Romo. Surely his ceiling is higher, and hopefully he plays at a higher skill level eventually, or at least keeps the interceptions down.

I'd take Romo level play from Bortles easy.

Not sure how there is still a stigma that Romo is a bad player.

I think the feeling is he's never going to win a Super Bowl. Whether it is his fault or not, the team had a reputation for losing games that mattered the most. I think last year cooled that thought some.

Me too. I'd be thrilled. He'd be the best QB this team has had by a decent margin.

I live in Texas, and the Romo hate is real. I can't wait until he retires and Cowboy fans remember what it was like post-Aikman.
