What Do You Want to see vs. The Steelers

#21

Quote:I don't recall seeing any potential pick 6s from Blake (I welcome enlightenment on these plays), but Jaguars QBs would have been sacked at least 3 times at the scrimmage if the action were live.

That concerns me.

I should clarify, Blake wasn't out there making a bunch of head scratching throws, but the poor blocking forced him into some situations where he made a poor throw or poor decision. I'm sure you have it, but here's the link to the scrimmage http://www.jaguars.com/media-gallery/videos/Jaguars-scrimmage-broadcast-archive/0cc0a814-2d13-45a3-b589-e16ace983b80.

On his first attempt, around the 5 minute mark, the Oline concerns immediately showed up. Blake tries to stand tall in the pocket, but the pocket almost immediately collapsed. There's no better pressure then inside pressure, and there was a lot of it on this play. Clear sack.

The first throw I didn't like was from Bortles' own 1 yard line at the 16:30 mark, and after further review it appears I made a bad judgement. A quick slant to Robinson, it was actually a real good throw and 15 dropped it. At first glance, I put that on Bortles because it looked like Colvin had a chance to snag it and run it in. Not much you can do in throwing conditions from your own 1.

There was no miss interpreting his very next throw, also from the 1 yard line. 3rd and 11, and with the pocket collapsing, Blake looked right at Gerhart in the flat and didn't throw him the ball. Would it have got the first down, no, but it would've been better then getting the ball tipped for what should have been an easy pick 6 for Telvin Smith. He held on to it too long trying to make a play, and I'm fine with that. His decision making will come along with the process.

The TD to 15 was nice, but the throw to Julius Thomas at the 38 minute marks as about as good as it gets. What a great catch too.

The last throw I thought was a bad idea was at the 1:02:00 mark. A great catch by Julius Thomas on a quick out, Davon House was real close to snagging it and taking it the other way, and Telvin Smith was in the area too.

Blake showed improved fundamentals and the ability to make big plays when he has time to throw. Unfortunately, the offensive line looks like it might need quite some time to gel. I think Bortles has a legit chance to succeed here, but the Oline could easily derail the progress he seems to be making. I'll hope for the best I suppose!

Damn, for preseason too. That's a fan.

I want to see aggressive play without injury.

Sacks and especially an INT

A deep passing play

A creative offensive play that works.. to Denard

A punt return (wait, strike that... just catch the ball)

A field goal outside 40 yards that doesn't get blocked

A punt that traps our opponent inside the 10 yard line. Then a repeat of same..

A 3rd and 2 instead of 3rd and 8 all the time.

BB looking off the safety

NONE of the stupid passes to the receiver standing at the LOS only to be picked and sixed.

Linebacker play that stops the run for 2 yards or less instead of 6-7 all the time.

Yeldon not get hurt

A lead at halftime

How about WIN ??

I'd like to see some nastiness coming from the OLine.

No injuries. Vanilla offense, red zone efficiency, and limited big plays (meaning tackling and no blown coverages).

I'm interested to see how our DB's line-up. With Colvin, McCray and House on the field, will our secondary be amazing or average?

Does anyone have a guess when Marks and Clemons will be back? I'm worried Marks won't be conditioned enough to even play at the start of the season and we'll get low production from Clemons since he isn't even playing in pre-season. Also, when is James Sample suppose to return? That guy looked great in mini camp.

Meh, it's only an hour long flight and a 3-4 hour drive. I was making the trip anyway, I just got lucky there was a game in Jax that week. Those people that pay the large amount of money and endure that awful plane ride to make the London game are the real hardcore fans.

What do I want to see?

I want to see how some of the players look when going "full speed".

I want to see how Blake Bortles looks in a game at "full speed".

I want to see how our draft picks look.

The scoreboard really means nothing to me. This is simply the first second "dress rehearsal" for a real game, only this time it's going to be closer to real game speed and intensity. The second half is going to be all about the scrubs from both teams trying to scratch their way up.

I want to see an offensive line that protects and provides. I want to see at least 4 completions of 30+ yards. I want to see Corey Grant take one to the house, while playing RB. I want to see our CB's shut down the WR's. Oh, and I want to win the lottery.
