Texan RB Foster Groin May Need Surgery then IR
|
I've loved Arian Foster in the past and am always glad that I can get him in a fantasy draft. Sure he will kill you a few weeks (or more) because of injuries, but when he plays he is money.
He's a fun player to watch too...his running style (which probably is why he gets hurt) is pretty intimidating. We show less advertisements to registered users. Accounts are free; join today!
Quote:Foster was the key to that offense. He is a really good player. Tough break for the Texans. It won't make things any easier on whoever the QB is going to be, especially if it is a young guy. Mallet is their QB drafted by Patriots in 2011 and backup to Brady until last years draft of Garropollo. Mallet replaced Fitzgerald in Nov. Last year and then had pectoral injury. So not any significant playing time but this is 5th year.

Looks like he'll go on IR/Return with a possible return in Week 9. They come to Jax in October, so no Foster in Jax.

If he is out for the season, the Texans offense is going to struggle.
They have a good offensive line-perhaps the best in the division, so they have that going for them. But with no credible QB, and no credible RB, they are going to struggle to score. Worst to 1st. Curse Reversed!

I don't see the doom and gloom the rest of you do.
I don't think the offense will be that good without him, but I still think it can be functionable. Blue and Polk can hold their own with that line.
Quote:I don't see the doom and gloom the rest of you do. I think most disagree. That offense was reliant on Foster...now they don't have a legit qb or rb. Quote:I don't see the doom and gloom the rest of you do.Blue had his moments last year, but they were few and far between. He only averaged 3.1 ypc. That won't scare anyone, especially if teams don't respect their passing game due to bad QBing and no Andre Johnson. Polk didn't do much last year with a pretty good O-Line in front of him. I don't think they will be 2011 Jaguars bad, but I think they will struggle some, offensively. If injuries hit their OL...that will definitely be another year wasted for that defense. Worst to 1st. Curse Reversed!

I somewhat agree but if we're talking in the context of our division, will their offense be substantially worse than ours or Tenn's? Some sound like they expect Hou to be competing for the #1 pick and I just think that's premature. They won't be a patty cake opponent. We show less advertisements to registered users. Quote:I somewhat agree but if we're talking in the context of our division, will their offense be substantially worse than ours or Tenn's?Make no mistake, I don't think they will be a patsy. Just offensively deficient. As long as their OL is intact, they should have some success. But they will be easier to defend. Will their offense be substantially worse than ours or Tennessee's? If Bortles develops the way we hope (and implicit in this is improvement in the WR, OL and running game to support him), then yes. Worst to 1st. Curse Reversed!
Quote:Make no mistake, I don't think they will be a patsy. I wasn't singling you out, that's just the general feeling I'm getting from the thread. Oh, Foster's out? Chalk up two wins! I don't think it will be as easy as that, that's all. BTW, I agree with you on the hope for our offense but that's certainly a huge IF. Quote:I wasn't singling you out, that's just the general feeling I'm getting from the thread. Then we aren't that far apart then. Even assuming I think their offense will be bad, their defense will certainly make it far from a gimme. Besides, our defense still has its issues, and it is entirely possible Houston could have good games against us, just like our defense had a good game against Indy last year. I think in another thread, I described being able to possible "steal a game" from them. Worst to 1st. Curse Reversed!

Texans owner Bob McNair shares his thoughts:
Quote:“Can’t say I’m surprised, McNair said, via John McClain of the Houston Chronicle. “It seems like every year he’s had a soft tissue injury. We keep our fingers crossed. He seems to be vulnerable to those types of things. We believe he’ll come back this season and help us.” Makes you wonder if this could be Foster's last year with Houston.
