NBA Draft
|
Quote:This would make more sense. There is no way the Magic would give up Vucevic just to move up 3 slots.and draft Okafor as a replacement. If the get #2 and #6, the replace Vuce with Okafor AND only move 1 slot down (to #6) from their original draft position. Yeah, that would be ideal. Okafor is very similar to Vuc so it's a bit of a gamble. I doubt Orlando moves up or trades Vuc. I think their ideal scenario is to stay at 5 and draft Kristaps Porzingis. Rumor is Rob Hennigan told Porzingis if he had come out last year that Orlando would have drafted him. We show less advertisements to registered users. Accounts are free; join today!
Quote:Yeah, that would be ideal. Okafor is very similar to Vuc so it's a bit of a gamble.I'm not sure why you would take a Euro there. Why not take Winslow? Saw a fun fact yesterday on ESPN.com. ONLY two European players have been taken in the lottery that have turned out to be All Stars. Dirk and Pau Gasol.
Quote:Saw a fun fact yesterday on ESPN.com. Out of how many Euros drafted in the lottery? And is the percentage of European players drafted to those that made an All Star game any different than other players?

Quote:I'm not sure why you would take a Euro there. Why not take Winslow? Orlando's biggest need is shot blocking and 3 pt shooting both of which Porzingis excels at. Outside of Karl Towns, Porzingis would probably be the best fit for what Orlando is building. Quote:Okafor at 2 #LakerGang. The Bulls aren't letting Jimmy Butler go. He's a restricted free agent. Apparently the Celtics offered Marcus Smart, Kelly Olynyk, #16, and either another player or #28 to Philly for Nerlens Noel and #3
HAHAHAHA guess it doesn't hurt to try
Quote:Out of how many Euros drafted in the lottery? And is the percentage of European players drafted to those that made an All Star game any different than other players? Mike Greenburg (Mike & Mike) stated this morning that only 2 of the 19 international players that were drafted in the Lottery turned out to be all stars
MARIO HERZONJA
What's up this dude? Check out his 2014-2015 stat line 64 games played 15 starts 14.2 minutes per game 5.94 points per game. 968 total minutes 26 for 36 from the free throw line. That's 2 free throw attempts for every 54 minutes of playing time. TOTALLY SOFT !!! Note: James Harden shoots 2 free throws for every 7 minutes of playing time. OK, if this dude is a legit lottery pick at age 20 why wasn't he getting significant playing time? OK, if this dude is such a great shooter, why can't he hit free throws (72%) I HOPE THE MAGIC STAY AWAY FROM THIS DUDE !!!
Quote:Mike Greenburg (Mike & Mike) stated this morning that only 2 of the 19 international players that were drafted in the Lottery turned out to be all stars I agree that Euro players are often overvalued because of the mysteriousness factor. That 2 of 19 number is kind of misleading, though. The vast majority of players don't turn out to be All-Stars. I'd say less than 25% of lottery picks that are from the U.S. or played college basketball in the U.S. become All-Stars. Still a better number than 2 of 19, for sure. Also, I'd be curious to see this list. Is it including guys like Dante Exum (2014) and Dario Saric (2014) who are way too early to be counting out? If so, then throw in an 0 for 26 in 2013 and 2014 NBA U.S. lottery picks that have "turned out" to be All Stars. We show less advertisements to registered users. Accounts are free; join today!
Quote:Mike Greenburg (Mike & Mike) stated this morning that only 2 of the 19 international players that were drafted in the Lottery turned out to be all stars Probably not much different percentage wise than domestic players.

I'd be OK with Porzingis but I still think the Magic needs to address a certain softness that they had in the middle last season. It would be great to see them obtain a player that brings a tough physical presence with intensity.
10 Year Sample - Domestic Lottery Players from 2003-2012
25 Lottery Picks made at least 1 all star game. .... assuming there was ~ 1 Euro drafted in each of the lotteries (i forgot to calculate and don't want to redo the drill) that would leave 6 American Lottery picks per year 25 out of ~ 60 --- slightly less than a 50% chance of getting an all star in the lottery.
WOW .... there was a time in the 80s and 90s where I could have probably named 80% of the colleges of each player drafted in Round 1. I just picked a random year (2008) and got 8 out of 26 ---- note: 4 didn't go to college in the US

Quote:10 Year Sample - Domestic Lottery Players from 2003-2012 There are 14 teams in the NBA Lottery
;

In the past 5 years 7 out of 56 American lottery players became All-Stars (12.5%) and in the past 10 years it was 22 out of 114 American lottery players (19%).
Quote:MARIO HERZONJA I wouldn't put too much stock into those stats. Euro teams are notorious for giving playing time to the season vets vs the up and coming young guns. We show less advertisements to registered users. Accounts are free; join today!
Quote:Mike Greenburg (Mike & Mike) stated this morning that only 2 of the 19 international players that were drafted in the Lottery turned out to be all starsThanks for confirming this. Okay so that percentage is 10.5% Quote:Probably not much different percentage wise than domestic players.Yes. but the post quoted below stated that in the past 10 years you have about double the chance to draft an All Star. Quote:In the past 5 years 7 out of 56 American lottery players became All-Stars (12.5%) and in the past 10 years it was 22 out of 114 American lottery players (19%).
Quote:I wouldn't put too much stock into those stats. Euro teams are notorious for giving playing time to the season vets vs the up and coming young guns. What about getting to the free throw line less than 1x per game ---- 2 free throw attempts for every 56 minutes played. 26 for 36 from the free throw line. This tells me the dude is extremely soft. To me, this is alarming --- you need to be able to drive to the hoop !!
Quote:There are 14 teams in the NBA Lottery You know what ..... I knew there were 14 teams in the lottery process BUT I honestly thought the Original 7 (dating back to 1985-1988 system) were considered "Lottery Picks" WOW .... for a person that had the NBA channel for the past 6 years, I feel pretty dumb -- HA !! Still doesn't seem right that almost 50% of the 1st round picks are considered lottery picks. That title should be reserved for the elite 7. I think I'll petition the commish. |
