OTL: UF and FSU have the most criminals

#21

Quote:If you took time to read the article you would discover they only polled 10 schools. I imagine the numbers would be similar across the board if it had been done for every school. You mean to tell me athletes get away with more than the normal citizen??? How shocking this article is. It's sad but it happens and not just with athletes.

It sounds like you're saying that its ok, that some people play by a different set of rules than others.  Access to a lawyer is great and they should get that, but when cases are brought to trial or a certain set of people are notified of an athletes involvement in a crime that really have nothing to do with seems to go against the intention of the law.

When someone is scared to go the police or threatened if they do because someone is a college football player, something more needs to be done.  Everyone wants their team to win, but at what cost?

I'm saying this isn't news. It's been happening for a long time and isn't just a problem at these two schools. It's across the board. I'm not saying it's right, but it's happening and it's unlikely that it ever changes. People with power just don't operate under the same rules as you and me. These colleges have the power to protect their investments.

The Outside the Lines report wasn't just about these two schools.  The report was done on ten schools and they pretty much showed that it was done across the board.

Just because you can say we all knew this was happening doesn't mean there shouldn't be a discussion on it, or work on solving the problem.  If there is enough push back from the general public, the colleges will change their approach.

The whole certain people/institutions have more power than us isn't a good one.  Everyone knows that with enough public sentiment, things will change.  These schools have to keep their integrity because if they dont, their main business of providing an education is compromised.
