It's incredibly naive to be making any judgements about Mariota vs Bortles at this point. RG3 had a great rookie season then ranked. I actually like Mariota. But it's way to early to say he's better or worse then Blake

But it's way to early to say he's better or worse then Blake Bingo. On top of that, as of right now, they are 2 completely different types of QBs... Quote:You have to look at more than stats. I love it how people are trumpeting Blake's statistical success in this thread and yet we have to look beyond the stats. Let me guess, he's a young farve? I like Blake but at this point MM is putting up similar numbers. So i think we need to temper a lot of the talk in this thread. If dink and dunk is working for MM and that offense then go for it. We push the ball more. But the results have been the same. Quote:It's incredibly naive to be making any judgements about Mariota vs Bortles at this point. RG3 had a great rookie season then ranked. I actually like Mariota. But it's way to early to say he's better or worse then Blake I agree completely. I'm not making any judgements about who is better, just pointing out their production has been similar. We show less advertisements to registered users. Accounts are free; join today!
Quote:I love it how people are trumpeting Blake's statistical success in this thread and yet we have to look beyond the stats. LOL, I guess. To me, it makes a big difference how the numbers are gotten. But you're right. At the end of the day, wins are all that matters. And BB5 only has 2.
Quote:Best nickname I can think of. The first pick wasnt really his fault it got tipped by his WR (i think it was AR15), here is what the NFL Fantasy league says about Blake ------------------ Bortles completed 24 of 40 passes for a career-high 381 yards with two touchdowns and two interceptions Sunday against the Jets. He also rushed four times for 32 yards but fumbled twice, losing one, and was sacked six times for a loss of 43 yards. Analysis: The Jets came into the game with one of the stronger pass defenses in the NFL, but Bortles managed to connect with seven different receivers, including Allen Hurns and Allen Robinson who both finished with more than 120 yards each. Bortles has thrown for multiple touchdowns in four consecutive games, posting a 11:7 TD:INT during the span, and will look to extend his streak in Week 10 at Baltimore. from NFL.com -------------------
First pick wasnt his fault... and the rest?
Same thing.. different day.... he needs to learn when to tuck, run, chuck away.
Quote:First pick wasnt his fault... and the rest? Give him another off season to learn that. He sucked last year with footwork and mechanics. He worked on it and got better. I predict every off season he'll learn and improve. We show less advertisements to registered users. Accounts are free; join today!
I dunno man.. if I'm being paid what he is.. rudimentary QB decisions shouldn't take .. years
If his life... no... if his kids lives depended on it... would he make better decisions?
I disagree Realisticjohn he only threw one other pick in this game, and the fumble... but did you see how many times he got nailed...
watch fitzpatrick wasnt touched had like 3 to 5 secs every play, blake had 1 sec & had to scramble to make more time to throw on every play... put in Chad Henne and see what would happen... would be like it was when Chad was in last year... they would be talking about the Jaguars have the worst Oline in the league.. fact is Blake makes the oline look better then they truly are... with his mobility. Could he have played better sure... but some of this negativity for a 2nd year QB that (didnt play his whole rookie year) behind this oline is simply crazy... I mean he lost to the 8-0 Panthers, the 7-0 Patriots, the Colts whom beat the Broncos, sure there were games that the Jaguars shouldve won but lost due to turnovers but they werent all done by Blake (K/PR Nick Marshalls fumbled a return this game for example). Is he better than Carr probably not, but he's certainly not the worst starting QB in the league either.. other people (not Jaguar fans) are starting to notice QB Blake Bortles & the Allen Brothers they need a better oline & better running from TJ Yeldon (whos getting there for a rookie)!
Great post DewIT... and I agree... somewhat..... then again.....I really don't want to judge my QB in 'he's not the worst' terms.
I mean gee... glad he's not .. the worst. :pinch:
Good point. I would say Blake Bortles is very competitive and has a nice deep pass when given time he can really light it up. However when he takes a punishing blow, after blow like any man he can start to make bad choices late in the game (as he did with this pick) he tries sometimes too hard to make a play instead of throwing it away or taking a sack (hence the fumble). He's still young, he'll learn....

Quote:Opponents matter and he threw 4 TD's against a defense that just had 6 TD's thrown on them the week before (6!). Anyways, they will get to play soon enough so lets see it on the field. He threw more TDs against the bucs than Blake. We will see if Bortles can throw 4 TDs without any picks against the saints.

Seems like Blake always finds a way to lose the game for us... it's easy to say "but he had a comeback win", when the team is always losing.
I ain't no monkey... I'm an ape.
