Market is going to explode in the next month as people invest their stimulus checks they don't need. What are some good picks???

Let's hope.  CNBC reported something like 30% of the stimulus checks go into the stock market.  I think that was 20% of the people between ages ____ and ____ (didn't quite catch it) so I'm not really certain the total impact but it's enough to spike the stocks.  I may have sold off tech prematurely yesterday after buying the big dip followed by the huge spike.  At least I add a little to my recovery stocks.  May go light on tech and see what happens.

Personally, I think if you want to invest for the rest of the year, the money during that time frame should be put into US Oil (cyclical recovery - price should rise as demand increases and OPEC and others still regulating supply), emerging markets (China), and maybe some small caps (room to grow and "catch-up" with vaccines opening up the economy).

Good point.  I have shares of XOM which is up 22% since my buy.  I sold off RDSA a while back.  Do you have any recommendations (ETFs or individual companies)?  I like it because it falls right in line with my increased air and cruise travel.  The only thing I don't like about it is the fact that you wake up one day and the Saudis decide to produce more or less oil and the entire industry is impacted (causing a major +/-) swing.

I own XOM shares as well, but recently invested into VDE, which is a Vanguard US oil etf.  I also invests in VWO which is Vanguard's emerging markets ETF. As far as small caps, I like IJR, which is ishares core S&P small cap ETF.

I also feel like if you're looking for a dividend and some growth but nothing huge, just stability, Walmart is a good buy.

I also agree with JIB that Boeing has a lot of room to grow.

With all of that said, I'm not an advisor, but I get advice from Merrill Lynch and UBS, and then have some experience investing on my own.  I also think while the ideas above are solid, between now and whatever your exit point is there will be a lot of volatility, because let's face it, that's just where we are in the world right now.

Just bought back in on KOSS, SQ, and TDOC -- moderate levels.

Took a flyer on GE - small amount. It's really taken a hit lately.

Thanks for the info.  I like getting different perspectives, especially when we start to enter into a different market period where everything isn't so obvious.

GE has been taking hits for 20 years. Any good part of the company they sell off.

This thread makes me think of the ‘buy the rumor, sell the news’ saying. I bet there will be a pullback when the checks actually start rolling, cause so much hype is priced in.

I agree with people on XOM, but it’s getting pretty close to its historical dividend yield of 5% right now. I don’t know how much more room it’s gonna have to go up.

At least you bought some.  I saw it at $140 and stayed away.

Ended up selling the rest of my KOSS at 115% and all AMC as it was just up +12% today and over 70% total

Bought RKT and it's up 6% already ... 11% on the day --- I need a I Heart Reddit shirt.
I wonder how long this will keep going on. When I read WSB for fun last year, they would always hype stuff way late, and the majority would paper hand. It’s interesting, cause now everyone on there is hyping each other nonstop on the same stocks and creating their own pyramid scheme. 2 days of 50% loss broke them last time on GME. We will see what it is this time. WSB is definitely a casino.

What happen to PLTR? Seems like they all forgot it now.

I bought RBLX yesterday @ $73.76 --- down some but it's worth a shot.

Also just picked up AMC at $9.99 and EXPR @ $3.89 -- did a calculation this a.m. only to realize my ROI on the AMC (109%), KOSS (84%), and GME (243%) totals 94.57% in the aggregate based on the weighted average.  This represents 5.5% of my 16% YTD Gain.  House money right now on AMC, KOSS, and EXPR.

Tidbit from CNBC -- there was a dude on their last night stating they are $5 billion in debt and have deferred leases totaling $400 million so regardless of the economy opening back up there is no way they can rebound -- he predicted stock to be $0.01  --- he stated Cinemark is in much better shape financially.   So, what do we do .... BUY AMC .... lol

.... in this instance, I will agree with jagibelieve that this is "gambling"  ... but hey, when TB12 is your QB, gotta keep marching forward.

With some of these stocks, you are essentially gambling on people who don't know what they are doing overpaying for these stocks to buy your already over-inflated shares off of you. Just don't be the person at the top of the house of cards, then you are golden.

Look at BYND and BMBL. I think you bought high, should have waited for it to settle.

Look at MO if you want a DY stock

Shed cancer liability

Low overhead

It's on a ladder up to 100 per share in three years

Also DY is going up. Check out the 20 year DY: https://www.streetinsider.com/dividend_history.php?q=MO
