Greg Cosell had RG3 over Luck. said Logan Thomas was better coming out of college than Cam Newton.  They all miss.

Yeah, true, they all miss, but their misses don't hurt as much as your teams misses do.

I'm not discounting him completely. I'm just saying he gets more access to NFL prospects than the average person and he failed to see how terrible Gabbert was between the ears. I just don't hold his word as the be all gospel on talent.

Solid point.

Quote:Fowler can play either. Skuta is pretty much only a Sam/Otto/Buck etc. Skuta will play Otto dor sure. I was just saying Fowler would probably be a better otto than leo at this point in time.

What I've noticed from prior discussions is that we message board posters cannot even agree on what a Leo is.  Some of us don't think the Leo needs to be able to defend the run at all!  ( Not me, of course.   I like my players to be able to tackle.)   So there's no point to saying a guy is a better Otto than Leo.   Fowler is a DE who can stand up and rush the passer or drop into coverage.   That's what he is.   I don't think the idea is to force him to be anyone's definition of anything.   Otto, Leo, whatever.   He's going to be Dante Fowler.

According to his spider chart Gabbert should have been a future HoF player.

Far from his only miss. Just his most epic failure.

Gabbert had it between the ears.  His problem is that he was just a practice guy.  A superhuman practice guy.  That's the tease that's kept him in the league.

Only thing between Gabbert's ears was dried corn husks. But moving on......

Fowler can't just be a role player or a "just a guy" he needs to be a stud from day 1. We can't afford to spend high picks on players that are not stars. This franchise has wasted far too many early picks on garbage players. Caldwell better have hit a home run with this guy. His learning curve should be shorter than Joekel's and Bortles because of scheme fit and position, so there's no excuse for him. Caldwell now has his LT, his QB and now his pass rushing specialist all with early picks. It's time to start seeing some real results.

Quote:So you're saying he'll have to workout and practice hard to be a good player? Amazing logic. I thought he was going to the Hall of Fame based on his college career.

I am saying that he doesn't come into the league with elite physical tools like most players chosen at the very top of the 1st round. I am saying that he has to develop those tools in order to be effective.

I know that was the philosophy, QB, LT, DE, but da#n we need some better skill position players.  WR, RB, we have to be 32 out of 32.  I'm certainly hopeful for Robinson, Lee, and Hurns, but the clock is ticking.

I feel the same way. 15.6 points a game isn't going to get us out of the cellar anytime soon. All the more reason Fowler has to be a stud and make plays in the backfield and generate some good field position for the offense. If his not that player then we are in trouble. Especially if Williams and Cooper end up being All Pros. First defensive player picked should be the best one.

i don't think our WRs are the reason (or even a major contributing factor) as to why we were dead last in the league on offense. I think that has more to do with BB5 being sacked 55 times than pretty much anything else (Honorable mention to Fisch's "scheme").

You don't NEED a receiver in round 1 to improve 15.6 pts per game.  The draft is still ongoing...

Success is a journey, not a destination.  Go all out Mighty Jaguars.

Who was more of an impact for their teams last year; Clowney/Mack or Watkins/ODB?
