Jags Claim Jeff Tuel

#41

Quote:So basically the back up QB job is Henne's job to lose.

I realize the team around him wasn't really good, but there were times that Henne looked like one of the worst QBs in the entire league last season. In other words, he was GAWD AWFUL, couldn't move the team at all and looked worse then a rookie QB playing in his first NFL game ever. That's just unacceptable for a 6 or 7 yr veteran QB, whether he is the starter or back up QB. A rookie would have the excuse of being a rookie, but that just doesn't apply to 6-7 yr vets.

I will give Henne his props for the first half against Philly when he played well above himself and led the Jags to a 17-0 halftime lead. That was the highlight of the season for Henne.

The ONLY highlight for him. The rest was a total and utter nightmare.

If you think I offended you, don't worry, I meant to. #facts

Quote:I don't know about you, but I'd rather have Chad Henne under center than Jeff Tuel if it came down to it.

Why?????????

Haven't you seen enough of Henne to know what you are going to get from him?

Henne is what Henne is, and we have already seen what that is.

At least Jeff Tuel is unknown as far as what he can do in the Jags offense, Henne is far from an unknown to Jags fans.

I survived the Gus Bradley Error.

Quote:I think Tuel could compete with Bortles. Tuel has shown improvement from his rookie year and I believe outplayed EJ Manuel in OTAs/Preseason. Marrone was force fed EJ because Whaley used a first round pick on him and Tuel was an UDFA. This signing leads me to believe Marrone probably like Tuel better than EJ, which could've been a factor in the rift Marrone and the FO and the reason Marrone chose to opt out of his contract. Tuel has all the traits to be a great QB in this league, I think he just needs a fair shake. I've been a faithful Bills fan for 20 years, and have never cared much about other teams, but I am interested in the Jaguars now.

No.

How can ANYONE support Henne after he put on that little league of a performance last year? How is he a viable backup? Thats the only problem I have with this franchise as of late, thinking that Henne is a viable backup. Smh.

So, being unknown is now an asset?  Good football take right there.

As I said before, fan opinion is really irrelevant when it comes to Henne.  He's not nearly as bad as fans want to portray.  That's not a defense of Henne.  Just a recognition that Henne landed in one of the worst possible situations for any QB last year when he started the season behind a line that was in a state of flux, with a team that had no running game.  He's not a QB that is going to lift the team up and carry them when things aren't going well.  But, if we had a running game teams had to defend, and a line that could protect the QB, we wouldn't have witnessed the dumpster fire we saw at times last year.  Football is still a team sport last I checked.

I'm sure he's losing sleep knowing he's lost your endorsement.

To me even if the worst passing offensive NFL team wanted me to sit on the bench and clap for some other guy for over four million a year I would do it too....

Way to go Chad for finding a franchise that will pay him that much to be a below average QB.

Yeah, I'm pretty sure Tuell isn't the next Tom Brady.

Based on his horrible 1 start, he isn't even the next Chad Henne.

1 game and 3 interceptions.  A QB rating of 45.1.  5.2 YPA.  44.1% completion rate.

Henne started 3 games and had 1 interception, a QB rating over 80, he completed 10% more of his passes and had a YPA that was more than a yard better per attempt at 6.3.  Not good stats, but better than the next Tom Brady nobody knows anything about.

Quote:I wouldn't be so sure about that. I still recall listening to the game as he played the Chiefs, and it was clear that he had the Chiefs elite defense on the ropes. This kid can play, and I'm rooting hard for him to flat beat out Henne and his mediocre game.

I watched that game. He was putrid.

It is funny to see people who have probably never even seen Jeff Tuel play pretend like he has any business even being a backup. He will be the preseason fourth quarter QB and likely won't make the final 53 man roster. You guys are hilarious.

Exactly.  When you've got some folks on this board saying his greatest asset is the fact that they know nothing about him, that speaks volumes.

He could be the next Johnny Unitas. The Steelers once released Unitas just like how the Bills just released Tuel.
