Jaguars Starting Running Back: Robinson V. Yeldon

#41

Yeldon should win the job and hold it down fairly easily and im a fan of the forward steps denard took last year.

All in all though Yeldon is a pure RB and wont have to adjust as much as Denard did.

I'm personally a fan of Yeldon, and I like that we drafted him in the 2nd round. I think he will be Caldwell's most impactful 2nd round pick to date.

You can't make your running game a focus and then have your RBs be gerhart, denard, storm, and Pearce. That would make no sense.

I believe Yeldon will be the starter, but they'll be using DRob in multiple snaps on a drive, in certain situations. I'll be the first to admit I'm a Robinson homer, but I think if we can utilize a rotating back system (a la Panthers with Jonathan Stewart & Deangelo Williams) we'd have a nice tandem coming out of the back field.

Yeldon is our starter. /thread

Robinson will be a nice back up.

It will all depend on who does better with the starting line up. Fast learner and little to no screw ups. Won't we have a new offensive scheme. Denard did well with some runs but he just doesn't have enough meat on his bones to take alot of hits. Toddman and Yeldon should be good for a one two punch. I will be happy to see the preseason games cause I think both will have few touches with the 1st group. It will be interesting to see what they do with all the running backs.

Todman is not a Jaguar.

Watch the breakaway speed around the 30 second mark. He's around 225(taylor size) but lacks that true top end speed. I do like how he seems to have an extra gear and gets chunks of yards.

I consider the running back position on the team to be the true 50/50 position battle in preseason this year.

Come week 1, I see it being a committee primarily between Robinson and Yeldon unless Yeldon breaks out

THERE IS A SKELETON INSIDE OF YOU.

RIGHT NOW. THIS IS NOT A JOKE.

A lot of great backs did not have true top end speed. For example, Emmitt Smith.

I hope Yeldon plays great, and I hope the Jaguars do return to a run heavy type of offense as I felt it was always a team strength (identity).

Exactly. Not every great back has a need for another gear. For some guys, that's a necessity to be successful.

I see a lot of great blocking ahead of Yeldon as well - in that video.

Let's hope we can get some of that too...

What's a running game when our backs are getting smashed 2 yards behind the LOS?

4.Yeldon continues to impress. T.J. Yeldon[Image: icon-article-link.gif] has impressed early in OTAs. The second-round selection from Alabama is expected to be the starter as a rookie, and he has shown versatility as a runner and receiver – as well as noteworthy quickness as a runner. “He looks really good in short-area change of direction,” Jaguars middle linebacker Paul Posluszny[Image: icon-article-link.gif] said. “He looks really, really good there. It’s, ‘How does a guy move in space? How athletic is he?’ That’s what stands out. With him, he definitely has it.”

That same 2nd rounder fumbled the ball the other day and they dont even have pads on.

If you think I offended you, don't worry, I meant to. #facts

Boy, that's a REAL indictment of the fact that we wasted the pick right there. You should really consider cleaning up your resume and applying for one of these GM jobs.

Based on his college stats (10 fumbles in 576 carries), he'll be among the league leaders every year in fumbles. He has a tendency to hold the ball out there when he runs.
