More Police Killed a Year Than Black Men By White Cops

But the race-baiting coverage resembles the strategy of stoking racial fears employed by Fox News CEO Roger Ailes during his political consulting days. While working as a media consultant for high-profile Republican campaigns - including Richard Nixon -- Ailes exploited racial fears and biases for political gain, a method now known as the "Southern Strategy." It's a pattern he's continued to employ year after year at the helm of Fox News.

All you needed to do, for anyone paying attention for the last 40 years, is post "Roger Ailes."

Quote:There are incidents and situations when killings are necessary such as recently in Garland, TX. But then there was also the kid with the toy gun that got killed among others.  The fact that more of the criminals death's were justified and perhaps even necessary is irrelevant to me because it's the ones that weren't I am talking about. It's appalling to me that in a modern society it still happens where innocent people are killed whether suspect/criminals or cops.

Innocent people dying isn't always preventable. I remember the kid with the toy gun, and the video (I think) doesn't help either side. I'm not sure what to think about it because I don't have all of the facts. What I do know is that gangs routinely employ kids to carry out certain things (think robberies, home invasions, etc.) and they'll give them guns. You would be surprised at how many kids have weapons. Just the other day I went to a home where a kid wanted to meet with his ex-girlfriend. The kid (15 y/o) started talking to the girl and pulled out a gun. She, of course, ran inside and we showed up. The kid stood in the driveway and had the gun in his waistband.

I told them not to move, and the first thing he did was reach for his gun. What am I going to think? Should I wait for him to pull it out? It was discovered later that he was trying to hide it, but he could have been trying to pull it out and shoot me. If I wait, I could have died. Because it happened so quickly, I didn't have to shoot him but it could have been a different outcome. This stuff happens all the time. Unfortunately, kids are going to die. This world is not a pleasant place, and there isn't always a safe outcome for either party.

I like Drifter's posts.. Hooey or not.. It's like standing at the checkout line at the grocery store and seeing a Weekly World News magazine with a cool headline (but ignoring it because you'd be too embarrassed to pick it up and read it)

Everyone one of those incidents they list are easily verified. If you want to ignore the facts then by all means.

Just to be clear you are ignoring easily verifiable facts because of a confirmation bias?

No, reading how inflammatorily they write about things like Trayvon, minority violence rates, the Voting Rights Act leads one to recognize their agenda.

And my request was to show me someone on the right out there in a track suit exacerbating racial tensions into a full blown riot like Rev Al does.

You gave me a leftist rag's biased write up on what they believe to be race baiting.

On the other hand, I can show you pictures of an MSNBC host pounding a podium at a rally and personally leading marching protesers who ended up rioting.

When all else fails, there's always Al Sharpton to fall back on.

Considering he's universaly mocked and villified I'm not sure how he keeps getting play. At least with someone like a trump, he's got gobs of money to get him on TV

He gets attention for the same reason guys like Pat Robertson do.  They pander to a certain audience who's ears are open to anyone who's minds are just as closed as theirs are.  (Disclaimer: I'm not saying their minds are closed because they're reverends or religious)  That's why we have hate groups.

I was wrong about Trent Baalke.

So, what's your thinking on the subject stated in the topic heading? You've made it clear that you don't care for what 'drifter' posted; but, you haven't actually responded to the topic either. So what say you about this purported 'fact'?

Fair enough. It's how all the fear mongers and hate monger stay on radio/TV.
