Quote:36 was too high to take him anyway. Hopefully that temptation will be removed now.
Not it wasnt, you can not like him in the top ten, but its ridiculous to say he wasnt a 1st round prospect

Quote:28.xx grams per oz. So just over one ounce.

Quote:35 grams! Wow! He was probably selling. What an idiot. 3 days before the draft! Are you kidding me!!

Quote:35 grams isn't a ton. Doubt he's selling as he'd probably have a few ounces.

Just over an ounce sounds more like personal use. It's enough to last for a while so you don't have to rush back out anytime soon to get more. It's also possible that it's not even for him. Afterall, the cop said it was "fresh, unsmoked marijuana.

He is at best in the Harold/Hunter tier, except they bosh embarrass him athletically so probably not. He was clearly behind Owa Diggy and Preston Smith to me already. I haven't ranked them officially but I'm pretty sure I could find 10 EDGE guys I like more. Heck gimme a few and I'll find the EDGEs I like more than Ray.

Ok, not necessarily in order I like these EDGEs more than Ray:

Vic Beasley

Dante Fowler

Bud Dupree

Randy Gregory

Owa Diggy

Preston Smith

Trey Flowers

Anthony Chickillo

Eli Harold

Danielle Hunter

Marcus Rush

Marcus Golden

Frank Clark

I know I know I'm a hater.

Ky, do you think his foot injury had any impact on his poor pro day numbers?

It's possible it did a little (100% he probably doesn't run an almost 8 sec 3 cone), but even before the pro day we were saying he was highly overrated as an athlete. The cutups just don't show a plus athlete in any form.

Absolutely amazing. This guy was on First Take last week and touted many times about growing up in a hard neighborhood and not letting it affect him or bringing it with him in the NFL like Aaron Hernandez. Also talked about how he wouldnt want to see his moms face is he ever got arrested.

Now this. Just shows you really can't get a bead on someone just through an interview no matter how legit they sound. Now he is the fool who cost himself millions just before the draft.

Id trade Marijuana for millions any day.

Can't wait to see whats next.

35 grams lol. Round here that's like $500 worth of ganja ain't it? Or are they using a different gram measurement? lol.

I never understood the Shane Ray love anyway.

Granted, I'm no expert - but nowhere did he strike me as an explosive athlete like some people did.  Watching him and then Beasley is like night and day.

The combine/pro day numbers (foot injury or not) also demonstrated how average (or below average) he really is athletically.

I think he will be a flat-out bust, and I've said so even in the "pick the bust" thread before this marijuana thing came out.

I agree.   I'm no scout, but from the video I've seen, I'm just not feeling it with this guy.   Dante Fowler, Leonard Williams, Vic Beasley, they all look like they have elite ability, but Ray?   I'm just not seeing it.   Throw in the toe injury and the drug possession, and I'm not taking the guy until at least the 3rd round.

Disclaimer: the above was written by an arm-chair GM who has watched about 1 minute of video.

Maybe it isn't his? Could be a passengers? If he doesn't get hit with a DWI or something like that. Does this even count as violating the substance abuse policy?

I think I would pass on him and Gregory in any round. You have to question just how smart these guys are. They know exactly when the draft is and the combine but yet they can't stop smoking to get thru those events?

You can't cure stupid.

And personally I don't want another Blackmon situation happening.

Looks like he actually only got a citation so outside of teams questioning him doing something similar or worse.

This should wind up being a non issue.

I could see some team still loving him and taking him rd 1

Still think he goes in the first round. Bill Polian says he could be the next Freeney. This is enormously dumb, but his talent is the real story. Any team can have average choir boys. His ability justifies the risk if a GM feels they can get 4-5 years of production out of him.
Only a chump boos the home team!
