Quote:See, I actually think that a 3rd RB may sneak into the 1st round. I'm thinking Gordon and Gurley are pretty much locks for the 1st. I think the Cardinals are almost a lock to go RB in round 1. I also wouldn't be surprised if 2 teams from Cowboys, Ravens, Chargers, Dolphins, Lions, Colts decided to go RB in round 1.
I think the Cardinals are more likely to target a QB in the first round, maybe Brett Hundley. The team completely fell apart last year when Palmer was injured, and his history suggests that he will be injured again at some point. Even if Palmer does stay healthy, he's in his mid-30's and isn't going to be around forever. It's time to find his replacement, and QB is a much higher-value position than running back.

I'm usually one of the anti-criminal brigade on here, as you'll see in about ten seconds, but even I would have a hard time nailing someone to the wall because they stole sweatpants from Walmart. Show of hands--who here didn't shoplift something small and stupid as a kid?

Dorial Green-Beckham shoved a woman down a flight of stairs.

He shoved a woman down a flight of stairs.

How people can say with a straight face that they want him on the Jaguars is beyond me.

I think I'm more upset at Walmart for prosecuting the guy over a $7 pair of sweatpants than anything else.

I was saying a few months ago when Ajayi's stock was more in the mid-3rd round area that he was the best value at RB.  So I'm not surprised to see his stock has been moving up.  And I say this as someone who was on the Ajayi bandwagon for awhile now....  but top of the 2nd round though is starting to get into the over valued range if you ask me.  For starters he is a RB.  Which is a position that doesnt need to be overdrafted.  And while he is very versatile, he isnt a home run player.  His long speed isnt great and he can be caught from behind.  If I'm drafting a RB a few picks beyond the 1st round, I want the prospect of home run potential.

If you want versatility and a lack of home run potential, why not go David Johnson 3rd instead of Ajayi 2nd?  Johnson may not be quite the pure runner Ajayi is but is probably a better pass catcher.  And frankly is a little faster and slightly more athletic.... while being the same size.

i wouldnt be upset with gurley, gordon, ajayi, coleman.... any of them, depending where we get them.

usually there are some guys i think we should definitely avoid, in this draft all of these runningbacks look like they can help at the right spot.

Due to the quality depth at both running back and wide receiver, I would expect the Jaguars to take one of these positions in the 3rd round and the other in the 4th. There is very little difference at running back between guys like Ajayi, both Johnson's, Coleman, Abdullah, Yeldon, Allen, Cobb and Langford. Everyone has their favorites from this group, but at least 4 will fall to the 3rd round and a couple to the 4th. All have a chance to be a productive back in the NFL and a couple will end up being busts due to either injury or simply lack of ability to succeed at the NFL level. The same goes for wide receiver. Coates, Lockett, Devin Smith, Greene, Lockett, Dorsett, Funchess, Hardy and McBride are all good options in the 3rd or 4th round. Depending on which position has a run in the 2nd round, the Jags can pick accordingly in the 3rd and 4th. I'd be very happy with Lockett or Greene in the 3rd to fill the slot position and then go with either David Johnson, Langford or Buck Allen in the 4th. That would enable them to take their pass rusher/d.lineman in the 1st (probably Fowler, Williams or Beasley) and the BAP in the 2nd (Harold, Flowers, Perryman and Maxx Williams all possible options). Not a bad 1st 4 rounds.

That's a slew of good points. From this standpoint, one could figure Williams at 3, best edge rusher available at 36, RB @ 67, and a receiver at 103 (or FS)

Flip that, Beasley at 3 and 3T (Henry Anderson or Michael Bennett) at 36...and then that would be one of my favorite scenarios.

yo, i honestly thought about that too. Beasley and Bennett. Pass rush would be enormous. Cause i got to thinking about Marks' success in this system and wondered if a guy like Bennett can fill in a play that 3 while Sen'Derrick fully heals, and actually have possibly greater success.

And thay said, wit Beasley coming off that edge, Odrick at the other end and Big Roy in the middle or Davis or Alualu in on sub packages, kicking everything over... Boy.

..,and dont let Skuta, Poz and T.Smith get off, wit Cyp coming up in dat box and Jones roming free, poppin offenders from 12 feet back. Wit Colvin buzzin around like a pesky pest to tumbling tight ends.. Takin it to the House

Not for some, no, but I wouldn't want Peterson on my team. Violent crime is, imo, enough to warrant keeping someone away from your roster, but this thread isn't about Green-Beckham or Peterson so I'll stop there.

I'm kind of liking Tevin Coleman more than Ajayi, and not just because of his pro day results. I think Coleman will be there in the third round (Ajayi will, imo, go in two), and I think he's got better potential than Ajayi does.

Well said. I'd be on board with Ajayi in round three, but definitely no earlier, and I'd pick Duke (or even David) Johnson over Ajayi if they're both on the board in round three. If we're picking in round two, I'm hoping it's for Gurley, Gordon or Abdullah. Another round three guy I'd be ok with is TJ Yeldon.

A "number of teams" have red flagged Boise State RB Jay Ajayi's knee when reviewing medical checks, according to Tony Pauline.
Thee knee injury (which was described as "shredded") occurred during an attempted theft when Ajayi was 18 years old after just moving to the U.S. for football. Beat writer Chadd Cripe once said "The injury on the field was so bad that coaches wondered if he'd recover." Pauline's report is worth keeping in mind during draft weekend, especially if Ajayi stays on the board longer than expected. Apr 20 - 12:43 PM

This is the first I've heard of this. If his knee is a concern long term, I can't imagine him going before the 4th round.

So this happened when he was 18, played 3 years on it without any concerns, and now people are saying its "shredded"? Me thinks its possible a team is putting out an unfavorable report in hopes of him possibly falling in the draft.
